Shadow of a Mercenary

Welcome to Shadow of a Mercenary, a Docu-Podcast presentation, created & hosted, by Kevin E. West. Shadow of a Mercenary chronicles the dramatic true story that chronicles the life of Verlin Siefkes: a simple crop dusting adopted Kansas farm kid of the 40s/50s who served his country as a Marine, loved painting his daughter's toenails on the porch and survived 28 days of captivity by Escobar's Medellin cartel. Verlin is betrayed by family, screwed over by crooked bankers during the late 70s - 80s and finds himself trapped between providing for his family and the U.S. government. Very often in life, it can be the most simple decision, that is the most fateful. Ultimately, Verlin is forced to become a double-agent by the DEA and eventually both shunned and dismissed, by the very government he served to protect in the Marines. Then again, it’s easy to be betrayed, when no one knows you exist.”

EPISODE 3:
While in the Marines Verlin meets his eventual second wife, Mary Ann, and the vision of his life begins to come into focus. Enjoy understand how a kid with no flying experience in a matter of a couple years has a crop-dusting business, three planes and a sparkling new daughter, Christy. However, while that all sounds great it means you also have to deal with the rigors of ‘real life’ and all of the good and the bad that comes with owning your own business. Suddenly, his wife decides she wants to quit her job, and start working with Verlin. What could possibly go wrong?

EPISODE 2:
To know where you are you have to start at the beginning. Just a simple Kansas farm kid from a really small town who grew up under the cloud of unknowingly being adopted until a punk kid spills the beans to him at 7-years old. Verlin’s childhood got even more complicated when suddenly two natural born siblings appeared in the house. We set the stage of life with Robert ‘n Jan, his high school years, how he found his love of speed, joining the Marines and his first marriage…well, sort of, his first.

EPISODE 1:
We waste no time telling you who Verlin is visually, his opinion on the supposed 'War on Drugs' of the 80s and how he found himself sitting in a cornfield on a 'Rainy Night in Georgia' surrounded by the D.E.A. and an idiot Co-Pilot next to him. As you'll soon find out in the subsequent episodes - that was just the beginning for the, Shadow of a Mercenary.
