Fayetteville is split in half between North Carolina and Kentucky, two pivotal states in the Civil War and western expansion. North Carolina was unwillingly split into the states of North Carolina and South Carolina on the Mason-Dixon Line during the Civil War, often symbolic of the permanent split of both northern and southern white families along pro-North or pro-South loyalties, pro-Federal government one man one vote or Pro-Confederated Alliance of States & one-third man vote based on population with continued slave trade, among individual family members.
The slave trade of the Southern States was 1/3rd of the very lucrative Rum Trade Triangle from Britain through the Caribbean Colonies still firmly in place, despite the American Revolution, and based on trade with the former American Colonies maintained from the Southern State of Virginia, the first American settlement and colony during the reign of Queen Elizabeth I. The name Virginia for that Queen called the Virgin Queen for her duty without marriage or dalliance, to the throne of her father Henry 8th - the King who beheaded his wives for only producing daughters, no sons to rule; and between K.Henry and Q.Elizabeth I the Schism of the Christian Church between Protestants and Catholics and the War of the Roses that broke Britain in half along the rulership on the throne and into thirds over Protestant vs. Catholic at Scotland & Ireland, propelled the Pilgrims into the American Colonies and split England off from Catholic Europe.
Back in the American Colonies: The Rum Trade and Trade Triangle were part of the Southern States' Loyalty to Britain pre-Revolutionary War and Post-Revolutionary War during which the Southern States rejected Federalization, another governance debate that split the new nation of America - not the colonies by name or decree - roughly along east-west and north-south lines, resulted in 1/3rd Man addition to the U.S.Constitution for those allowed to vote - vote weight in representation at Federal goverment based on state or colony population of combined whites&blacks, and the determination of southern states to remain "loosely confederated" under a second flag standard and declaration of Secession. This Triangle Trade of slaves, rum and tobacco among other products like sugar and tea, depended on the trade of southern-grown tobacco for British transported slaves that financed the 99% agrarian Southern States - confederated - resulted in the look of the disputed Flag of the South based on the British Standard and flown in contention into the modern era. The very historic Fort Bragg was instrumental in the end of the Revolutionary War & the Civil War and every single War the United States has fought since the beginning of the Nation. Known to the Native Americans of the earliest colonies. One of the first fort installations to integrate and lead integration SOP of black American service members during Vietnam. Good movie: A Soldier's Story Denzel Washington character out of Ft. Bragg working a murder investigation during the early years of integration.
