Shalabiyat

Stories have a powerful way of reigniting our imaginations and taking us to faraway places, and Shalabieh Al-Hakawatieh takes you into her magical world of stories with Shalabiyat, our Storytelling Podcast. The stories you will hear are stories that she has collected throughout the years and retold in her own special way.

Between storytelling and story collecting lies a sea of possibility, this has been Shalabieh's «Sally Shalabi» playground for the last 12 years. She started her storytelling with children and has evolved into telling to family audiences and adults. Inspired by her own tradition of old folktales Shalabieh’s stories come to her from everywhere. Once in her kitchen she works with them until they are ready - infused with her own style. Shalabieh has performed locally in Jordan and internationally in Egypt, Tunisia, Sweden and Palestine.
