Faith As We Begin 2019 -Hebrews 11-1-2---What is the reason for the miracle we find in the Bible from the Old Testament to Act --Why are there miracle and record --Parting of the red sea. Pillars of cloud etc. --1.They are done to authentication the message of God to his people.- .To tell them of their salvation.- .To prove the giver of the message is special.--2. Lots miracle, so that the people will recognize- -3.Deuteronomy 18-18-I will raise up for them a prophet like you from among their brethren and will put My words in his mouth and he shall speak to them all that I commanded Him.--4.Test to show if a message is true. - .a prophesy of the future event. - .all recorded carefully word by word- .miracle are a way to authenticate God message--5.Am I called just for me to agree the Bible- - -Hebrews 11-1-2 -Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. For by it the elders obtained a good testimony.--.The things hope for is God telling us about himself, and our standing before God. --.It tells us that Jesus Christ has complete the work of salvation on the cross.--Example--.Many of us have applied for hdb flat. -.You receive a letter that you are having a flat in 5 years' time-.You start organizing your life around it. -.This is the expression of faith because you believe that it will come to pass. -.The letter of Hebrew is the same. -.The elder made choice based on the letter received. --.Start to think of faith as an expression of our received truth.-.Make sure we hold the right perspective of the faith we received. -.We can be too absorb with the confession of faith instead of living it out.

Practical expression of our relationship with Christ - our brethren in Christ---Water baptism and local church membership.--3. WE NEED TO DO GOOD TO GOD'S FAMILY--Dominant theme in v3-8 --Do good for the benefit of God's family.--How---4. WE NEED TO EXERCISE OUR MINDS TO FIND OUT WHAT OUR SPIRITUAL GIFTS ARE -v3-6a---a. Holiness is the real you. -God is holy, therefore we are to be holy.--Holiness is define as - -Sinless, Set apart , Separate--We cannot simply drift into holiness.-We must fight to be holy.-We are to be separated from Sin.--This battle cannot be fought alone. -We must rely on the strength of God.--3 Things to note--Fight , Flee , Follow--Ephesians 6-10-11 -10 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of His might. 11 Put on the full armor of God, so that you will be able to stand firm against the schemes of the devil.--Fight--Put on the full armour of God and be prepare to battle Sin--Flee--Flee from youthful lust. -Do not be conform by the standard of this world.--Follow--Follow and seek the spirit help and guidance-Follow Jesus, because only He can take away my Sin.

Now That We Are Saved In Christ,--How Do We Conduct Our Lives Towards God- -Romans- 12- 2-----1. INTRODUCTION----Self-check- Have we offered our whole bodies, always, pure and without sin, as instruments of righteousness to God-----2. OUR DUTY - GOD, WE WILL BE DIFFERENT FROM THIS WORLD-----a. Conform - imitate--b. World - an era, a period, an age.--c. Be different because we want to obey God.----3. OUR GOAL - GOD, WE CHOOSE YOUR WILL AND NOT WORLDLINESS-----a. Negative - Do not conform to this world.--b. Positive - Conform to God's Word.--c. Transform our lives.--d. Renew our minds.----4. OUR MOTIVATION - GOD, WE DISCOVER YOUR WILL IS THE BEST---a. More than just a theoretical knowledge of the revealed will of God.--b. Aim for an experiential discovery of God's word in our real-life circumstances.--c. 2 Tim 3-1-7 Beware of--i. a form of godliness without power.--ii. a form of learning without understanding the power of God's truth.----5. OUR STRUGGLE - BUT GOD, CHANGE IS HARD-----a. Mind over body - not easy.--b. God knows our struggle.--i. The tension between the mind and body. A warning in Rom 1-28 for those who reject God and His truth.---And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a debased mind, to do those things which are not fitting------b. What will God do- God will give you up to a debased mind.--c. When will God act- Nobody knows-

Our duty - offer our bodies to God----Our goal - live a life that pleases Him.----Our motivation - His demands are reasonable----Our struggle - change is hard.----Our help - the Spirit----Our concern - Jesus saves but morality does not

The ultimate fulfillment of these 3 verses is found in Christ. But what are their relevance to us today---A warning and call to unbelievers and a reminder and comfort to those who believed.

Romans 12-1-15-3 is a practical expression of salvation.--Godliness--- flows from our salvation-- applies toour relationship-- brings happiness and meaning to our lives
