Jessica Lee, FOS Women’s Supervisor and Haley Jones, Women’s Assistant Supervisor took me on a tour of the new house. Friends of Sinners is a Christ centered rehab recovery facility for women. This beautiful new home accommodates 12 women who become like family to each other as they learn how to depend upon God and trust one another.
The Friends of Sinners recovery program includes plenty of class room work that offers life skill classes, bible studies, recovery group meetings, mentoring program, discipleship program, celebrate recover, 12 step meetings and much more. God is definitely glorified in the program.
Carol Adkins and Brenda Sharp have been working with women in recovery for many years. They are both passionate about helping Women in need, especially those who need a Fresh Start in life. Carol noticed that many women complete treatment for alcohol and drug addictions and then returned to their same dysfunctional way of living. Carol along with Cindy Jean, a board member of Fresh Start wanted to do something to help these women. They brought their passions together and developed ‘Fresh Start,’ a transitional housing for women who have been incarcerated or have had some sort of conflict with criminal and civil law.
Pastor Andre Bradley, the Pastor of Mount Calvary Baptist Church talks about his first experience hearing God calling him into the Ministry at the age of eight years old and then again at the age of eighteen. I wanted to have Pastor Bradley on my radio show to discuss the importance of preparing our hearts during Holy Week leading up to Easter.
In this episode, you will find out more about the good news that is going on with the Homeless in our community.

Carol Robertson and her husband Louis are the owners of Farley’s Bed & Breakfast located in the farming community of Calhoun Kentucky. God gave them both a vision of restoring Farley’s to an early 20th century appearance. Carol took me on a tour inside of Farley‘s. This historical bed and breakfast would be a great destination place to stay. Carol is gifted at creating homemade (wonderful) food and she is a charming hostess welcoming her guests with her southern hospitality.

Helga Wade is an amazing lady who started an outreach program in her church called, Bags of Love. After her husband of 52 years died battling lung cancer she decided to not sit at home on her couch and be depressed. Helga asked God to use her in some way that would help others. God answered her prayers after she did some research and found out about a program that was a perfect fit for her.
Melissa Gibson is an inspiration to so many people in our community and those who attend my fitness classes at Owensboro Christian Church Recreation Center. Everyone has noticed the transformation that has taken place in Melissa‘s body and in her spiritual growth. She started this healthy lifestyle journey five years and has lost a total of 170 pounds. Melissa talks about what prompted her weight loss journey and what keeps her motivated and moving forward. I loved her honesty when she talks about the days that she messes up that she does not allow her mess ups to discourage her from getting right back on track.
Melissa truly is an amazing Woman Shaped by Faith!
Shaped by Faith guest, Gwen Bennett, the founder of Shepherd’s Hand Ministry tells the story of how God woke her up at 3 AM every day for ten months with a burden for her to start a clothing ministry. Gwen started with a pile of dirty clothes left in a table closet at Walnut Memorial Baptist Church. From that pile of clothes that she took home to wash, God expanded this Ministry to help clothe over 6000 families between 2016 – 2017.
Shepherd’s Hand Ministry’s primary focus is to share the love of Jesus with others and to distribute clean, unstained clothing along with other items to help people in need. This ministry has branched out and is helping the Boulware Missions, Hope House, and Dixon Teen Challenge through the work exchange program. These organizations provide Shepherd’s Hand with men and women to help with the lifting and sorting in exchange for clothing, shoes, and coats for themselves and their families. This ministry also teams with Helping Hands Community Dinner every Monday night to provide clothes and food to 100 plus seniors, children and the homeless.
My guests this episode are Berly Tillman Sullivan and Maria Shyver from Mentor Kids’s Kentucky, a Christian mentoring agency based in Kentucky.
