Camille Tenerife is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in the Los Angeles area. She has experience working with a wide population but found her focus in helping professional women of color. Her passion comes from her experiences being biracial and the challenges that can arise from that. Through therapy, Camille is committed to helping her clients achieve a deep understanding of themselves and rewrite their stories to create a different ending.

In this conversation, Camille shares her own experience with therapy and how it shaped her desire to become a therapist. Lisane and Camille also discuss the idea that failure can sometimes be a redirection if we are open to the fluidity of life, the topic of intergenerational trauma and how we sometimes over identifying with our ancestors, and how discontent at work can be a symptom of other issues happening in our lives and within ourselves.

  • 27: Comedian & Thought Leader Leo Flowers
Adulting can be hard because we go through our childhood experiences, looking for this journey, this end goal of becoming an adult. And so often we get prepared for adulthood with the focus on how we're going to take care of ourselves financially, what we're going to do to be able to afford to care for ourselves materially. And that's really, really important. And unless we've had someone to come along to tell us that we are so much more than the jobs that we have and the material things that we're able to accumulate, that we’re also human beings who are here on this planet encountering relationships and circumstances and parts of ourselves, then we may also find ourselves in a position of negotiating and figuring out who we are and how to take care of ourselves.

Leo Flowers is a comedian, a coach, and a thought leader in the area of caring for yourself and paying attention to who you are. He is spending his life really responding to the question of how do you take care of yourself? And he does this and helps people to answer that question for themselves through his comedy. And also through the work that he does with other people.

You can find out more about Leo at:

    http://www.leoflowers.com/

    https://www.youtube.com/user/leoflowers

Leo Flowers is a former Div-I college athlete, has a Masters in Counseling/Psychology, is a stand-up comedian, and a mental health advocate. He was diagnosed with depression at an early age and has used that experience to help destigmatize it for others on his Suicide prevention podcast, "Before You Kill Yourself," which has over 100,000 downloads! His goal is to bring awareness to mental health by interviewing best-selling book authors, mental health experts, and sharing their understanding of how thoughts become emotions in order to teach people how to thrive. As an entertainer, he's performed all over the world and you may have seen him on Comics Unleashed with Byron Allen or Comedy Central’s “This Week At the Cellar.”

  • 26: Recognizing Burnout with Larnell Vickers
We were unprepared for the length of the pandemic and it has led to decision fatigue and burnout for some. As a result of the changes that have taken place over the past year, the current situations people are finding themselves in career-wise may not be what they initially signed up for. Larnell and Lisane discuss how to take the next step forward in the current climate of partial reopenings. They also discuss how to recognize burnout and some steps we can take to fill ourselves back up. Larnell uses the same principles in his own life that he teaches others in his coaching practice and shares his story of leaving a full-time career to build his own company. It’s so important to believe that what you want is achievable AND to build a community around yourself who will support you in that belief. You are not alone and you don’t have to accomplish all of your goals and dreams alone.

Join Larnell for Career Day for the Soul: Leaders Navigating Career Transition with Purpose

May 26 from 6-8 PM ET/3-5 PM PT

In a virtual safe space, we’ll come together to meet and learn from industry professionals across a variety of fields who are actively recruiting.
