Share Life Today

Hi, I'm John Sorensen, President of Evangelism Explosion International, and you're listening to Share Life Today.

This week, we're learning an easy-to-remember Gospel presentation. And we're using the five fingers of our hand as a learning aid.  Today we'll focus on Word #3 - God, and picture your middle finger - the longest, greatest finger representing the greatest being in all the universe which we know to be God. Of the many aspects of God's character, we'll emphasize two:  First, God is MERCIFUL and doesn't want to punish us. The Bible tells us that "God is love." But the same Bible that teaches us that He is love, also teach us that He is JUST and He cannot tolerate our sin. In Exodus 34:7, God says, "By no means will I clear the guilty." This presents a problem. Notice that I did not say God has a problem. The problem is ours. For God's solution to our problem, we'll turn our attention tomorrow to Word #4 - CHRIST. God solved our problem through Jesus Christ! Visit ShareLife.Today to see this "Hand" Gospel presentation video. That's ShareLife.Today.

Hi, I'm John Sorensen, President of Evangelism Explosion International, and you're listening to Share Life Today.

This week we're learning an easy to remember Gospel presentation. We're using the five fingers of our hand to remember five Gospel words - one each day. Yesterday was GRACE - and we used our thumb pointing toward Heaven to remember that Heaven is free...not earned or deserved. Today, we're using our second finger, our pointer finger for the second word - MAN - meaning the entire human race. The Bible clearly states that man is a sinner and cannot save himself. "All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God" are the words of Romans 3:23. Sin is anything that falls short of God's perfect standard. An action, a word, a thought, an attitude... ...and because we are sinners, we cannot save ourselves. But the Gospel is Good News! There is a way to be saved, but it's not man's way...it's God's way. We're in great need of His grace to cover our sins! You can visit ShareLife.Today and view the Gospel "Hand" presentation video. That's ShareLife.Today.

Hi, I'm John Sorensen, President of Evangelism Explosion International, and you're listening to Share Life Today.

How would you like to learn an easy to remember, hard to forget Gospel presentation? Using the five fingers of your hand, we're going to put one word to each finger. The five words are GRACE, MAN, GOD, CHRIST and FAITH. We'll look at one word for each day this week. Word number one is GRACE - picture your thumb pointing toward Heaven. Grace, heaven, eternal life, is a gift. Romans 6:23 says, "the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord." And, like any gift, it is not earned or deserved. The Bible tells us that we're saved through faith, not works. What a relief! Every other religion teaches that people must earn their way to Heaven, but not Christianity. Christianity alone proclaims that God's favor and entrance into heaven are absolutely free to us because of Jesus' sacrifice. So, word number one of the Gospel is GRACE. And we need it desperately. I asked Kristiane Roca what her vision is for the future of Bolivia. Her answer was inspiring. “We have a vision, right? And it is to be able to see the churches in Bolivia established with a continuous evangelism discipleship ministry, churches that are grounded in their faith, and also churches that have the commitment to disciple others on how to share their faith as a lifestyle.” You see, sharing our faith isn't meant to be an occasional event. It's part of following Jesus every day. As we go to work, spend time with family, and interact with our neighbors, God gives us opportunities to point people to Christ and share the Gospel. So today, ask God to help you see those opportunities and be ready to share the hope you have in Him. If you need help getting started, we have resources for you. I asked Kristiane Roca, EE’s National Director for Bolivia, why gathering with believers from around the world is so important. “Our desire is to be able to participate because we want to join the vision that Evangelism Explosion already has, refresh ourselves, strengthen ourselves, see the new strategies [...] because we understand that we are not alone in this mission, but that we are a group of nations with the same vision.” You know sometimes it's easy to feel like we're carrying this mission alone. But we're not. God is working through His people in cities, villages, and nations all around the world. And every time you share your faith, you're joining a global movement of believers pointing people to Jesus. And when you can’t go, you can pray and you can give so others can. Let’s be a part of the Gospel going to the nations! To get started in sharing your faith and to see it go to the nations, visit our website at ShareLife.Today.

I asked Kristiane Roca about what she's most excited about in Bolivia, and here’s what she said: “We are seeing young people also being part of the ministry now as volunteers. We have a quite large group of teenagers and young people who are part of the Evangelism Explosion team [...] We are looking to make an impact with the Gospel...” The Gospel isn't just for one generation. It must be passed on. And that's why it's so important to equip young people on how to share the Gospel! God is working through them all around the world to bring the Gospel to the younger and older generations. So encourage a young believer. Pray for them. Invest in them. Help them discover the joy of sharing their faith. If you need help getting started, we have resources for you. Kristiane Roca, EE’s National Director of Bolivia, shared a story with me of a woman she discipled. “...she had the opportunity a few weeks ago to share the Gospel with Alfredo. Alfredo was a man who was quite reluctant to trust in Jesus Christ, even though his family was already coming to church, serving the Lord and all that. And when she shared the message of salvation with him using Evangelism Explosion, Alfredo understood the message and received the gift of eternal life.” What a beautiful picture of a willing believer sharing her faith and giving Alfredo the opportunity to respond to the Gospel. And now he is following Christ and growing in his faith. You never know what God is doing in someone's heart. Our job is simply to be faithful and to share. If you need help getting started, we have resources for you. For those and to get involved with seeing the Gospel go to the nations like Bolivia, visit our website at ShareLife.Today. I was talking with Kristiane Roca, EE’s National Director of Bolivia, and she shared something encouraging: “We are currently training local churches. We are quite immersed in the implementation process, actually accompanying the churches one by one. As a result of this work that is being done, many churches have started wanting to unite to even go out and evangelize as a group.” I love that picture. You know, sometimes we think sharing our faith is something that we do alone. But throughout Scripture, we see believers serving and witnessing together. There’s something powerful that happens when churches unite around the Gospel. So let me encourage you—join other believers in sharing the Gospel. Go with a team, your community group, or a discipleship class. And watch what God does. To get involved in seeing the Gospel go to nations like Bolivia, visit ShareLife.Today.

I asked Oliten Lameck what his vision is for the future of Malawi. And his answer was inspiring. He said: “I would really like to see churches, every church equipping its people on how to share the Gospel. And I would like to see every young people knowing Christ and knowing how to share the Gospel also to other people.” What a wonderful vision. You know, the Church is always one generation from being extinct if we don’t intentionally share the Gospel and pass it on. That’s why it’s so important to equip both young and old to share their faith. So today, let me give you a challenge: invest in someone younger than you. Encourage them. Pray with them. Teach them how to share the hope of the Gospel with others. If you need help getting started, we have resources for you. For those and to find out more about how you can get involved with seeing the Gospel go to nations like Malawi, visit our website at ShareLife.Today.

I asked Oliten Lameck, EE’s National Director of Malawi, why gathering with believers from around the world is so important. He said: “It will help us to expand our vision and also reshape our vision on how we can do this mission because we know there we are going to get some necessary tools and strategies to help us to share Gospel to churches and also the community for the betterment of our nation.” I love that phrase: “expand our vision.” You know, when we hear what God is doing in other places, it reminds us that we’re part of something much bigger than ourselves. So as you hear about the Gospel going forward around the world, ask God to give you His heart for your community, your nation, and the world. Be encouraged by what you hear to step out and share the Gospel with those around you.
