Sharing Passion and Purpose

This mini-episode is less than seven minutes and centers around my personal journey of discovering my purpose. I believe that Purpose = Fullfillment. For me, I struggled early on and now hope to be a resource for others to find and follow their passion centered around their purpose.

Beverly Anderson is tenacious and driven. She is also one of my favorite people! She is a friend who I admire for her tenacity and work ethic. In fact, at the beginning of the episode we talk about our 15 plus year friendship and group of friends who has gotten together – we met when our kids were in preschool and now they are seniors in high school!

But then we get into her business. She is a true entrepreneur at heart and shares about her education and passions coming together to form the EQ brand. She is a passionate equestrian who saw a niche market and developed a clothing line known as EQ Wear. She also shares a story about going to a show to market her product but not having any product to sell and what she did to make her idea work.

What do you get when you roll popular adages together like: Eat Healthy, Support Local, Farm to Table and Kid Friendly? The answer is Pure and Simple…Market, that is! Alacia Parker and her husband, Aleks, recently established Pure and Simple Market, a kid-friendly grocery & convenience store in downtown Coweta. Why? They saw a need in their community and decided to jump on the chance to create a one-stop-shop market that simplifies the grocery shopping experience while working to connect families with farmers and food producers who are close to home. And of course, creating a kid friendly space was especially important because they have four young kids themselves!

You’ve probably heard the old adage, "A picture is worth a thousand words." Well, if that's the case, Christopher Bryan might just be the ultimate storyteller. In this episode, I sit down with talented Commercial Photographer, Christopher Bryan, who has worked with a variety of clients, including ones from Forbes Global Top Ten. He shares his background, knowledge and some tips to consider when taking a headshot (you might be surprised by what he says!). He also lets us in on a nonprofit project that he’s bringing to Tulsa that will provide keepsake portraits for people in need.  As you’ll learn, he’s been a part of the team in the past and has seen the impact first-hand of what the photos provide to the people who are the recipients. In fact, you’ll hear a sweet story about one of the people who had her portrait taken.

Learn how she is redefining the culture surrounding the beauty industry and why she views makeup as a choice; never a requirement. That's an interesting statement from the creator of a beauty brand! You'll hear why she feels this way, the story behind why she created this product and so much more!

Life-long Tulsan, Dana Schuler Drummond, has a heart for helping non-profit organizations. As the founder of Sharpshooter Communications, she assists non-profits seek, secure, and manage grants. She knows the impact grants give to philanthropic organizations and as a result, those organizations can create change and positively impact so many.

Throughout her career, Dana has helped nonprofits secure over $50 million in funding. She recently received the Outstanding Professional Fundraiser Award from the Northeast Oklahoma Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals.

This interview will share more about Dana’s background, including some surprising side-hustles that include hosting a semi-weekly podcast and singing in a local rock band. It will also share her family ties to a well-known gangster and why she is thankful for the philanthropy that her family received several generations ago.

Traci Manuel dedicates countless hours and a lot of heart to creating and presenting interesting content that will engage and inspire young minds in the learning process. If you’re wondering why she does this, it’s because of the career she has chosen. Manuel is a Tenth Grade English II Teacher at Booker T. Washington High School in Tulsa Public Schools (TPS). Her incredible heart for teaching and inspiring has caught the attention of many (including me – she taught my son!)  and recently, she was nominated among twelve teachers across the state for 2023 Teacher of the Year. In addition to the ever-high demands and long hours, the pay is low. So, why does Manuel teach? You’ll find out about that and so much more, including her advice for those considering a career in teaching.
