Women, at least most of them I know, are sensitive, caring, kind, and want to please. We want to make everyone happy and serve, and most of us have a hard time saying no, setting boundaries and keeping a healthy balance in our life. When you are scared to say no to something that you know will break you, wear you out, exhaust you, and then you still say yes. Isn't that crazy that we sacrifice ourselves for some perceived internal thought that we made up about someone else's thinking, we don't even know if those thoughts are true, and yet we make decisions around that thought, like their actual truth, actual fact. Why? Why do we do this? Why is saying no SO hard?

Episode 27: Welcome to the She Builds Show, I'm your host, Stefanie Olson. Happy February! Can you believe it? January has already flown by? Today, I want to check in with you on your goals, your commitments, and speak about what it looks like to drift. For me, January was actually a terrible month, I had an amazing December, with time off and time to plan my goals and get ready to take on 2022. Then my poor team got hit with the dreaded C-word, and one of my main team members was out for almost 20 days, this brought me to one of my lowest points in a really long time. I honestly wanted to shut the doors and burn the place down, I was so beyond overwhelmed that every good habit and every good intention I had set for 2022 was blown to pieces. I wasn't able to manage my stress, my business or my life, I was drifting. Then I asked for help. Today I want to share with you the steps I took to get myself back on track.

Episode 26: Welcome to the She Builds Show, I'm your host, Stefanie Olson. I am a big, huge fan of Gino Wickman and his philosophies and ideas around running a business. He wrote the best-selling book, Traction. If you haven't heard of it, and you're an entrepreneur and you're running a business, you need to get it. It's by far the best business book I've ever read. The purpose of this book is to help you get a grip on your business. Gino has created a system called the Entrepreneurial Operating System, we call it EOS for short. Because saying that is not easy, I had a hard time. The system revolves around six key components, they are vision, data, process, issues, people, and then traction. The book walks you through how to develop each of these key areas. Implementing this program can take a long time, and I've been actually working through these steps for the past year and a half now. If you're an entrepreneur and you need help with building a good foundation for your business, this system is for you. The thing that is also offered within Traction is the ability to hire with what's called an EOS implementer, and they come alongside you and your team and they help you implement the six parts of Traction.

Episode 25: Welcome to the She Builds Show, I'm your host, Stefanie Olson. Today, I want to talk to you about Trello. This is the organization software you have been looking for! Organization and Systems is one of my favorite topics. I love anything that saves time, is user-friendly and allows for a task to be documented and delegated, so that you don't have to keep re-teaching the same thing over and over because nobody ever wrote it down or documented it. Let me introduce to you. Trello, my best friend. I have used a lot of software and systems throughout the years, and I'm always looking for something that is better than the last, and because there's a gazillion options out there, it's hard to know which one works best. So what the heck is Trello? Trello is a web-based list-making application, so basically, it's a higher level to-do list, an a must for staying organized in your business.

Episode 24: Welcome to the She Builds Show, I'm your host, Stefanie Olson. Today, I want to talk to you about this little thing called an ADU... An ADU is an accessory dwelling unit, these units can be put on your property to add office space, extra living space for family members, a gym, or my favorite, rentals for extra income. So today, I want to give you a few tips to help you down this road, if this is something you're thinking about. So the first and most important thing to think about is your zoning and whether or not it actually allows for an additional space. There are two ways to find this out, you can call your local city or county you live in and ask some nice person on the phone. Most cities and counties have what's called an interactive zoning map where you can put in your address and you can see what your zoning is and what it allows in our city. Most residential lots allow for an additional unit.

And the definition of a general contractor is a main contractor who is responsible for the day-to-day oversight of a construction site, management of vendors and trades, and the communication of information to all parties throughout the course of a building project. I want to just break down an easy-to-use system that I've been using for a very long time, and I want to help you set some goals for the new year. To me, having written goals and a plan is what moves the needle forward in my experience, both personally and professionally. In October, we sat down as a team and we started planning our business goals for 2022, we planned projects, we broke down the large goals into quarter goals and then broke down even further into smaller, monthly and weekly goals, this is how goal writing works, you have a big plan, the idea, and then you break it down into actionable and accountable steps.

She spent 6 years in architectural design both with Landforms and Walker Home Design and now works side by side with her father Steve Dailey building custom homes across Northern Utah.
