“It's a gift to other people when you show up as yourself and become visible.” - Laura Belgray
In this week's interview, my guest, Laura Belgray of Talking Shrimp® and co-creator of The Copy Cure shares with us how to embrace the PERSON behind our personal brands and infuse more of who you are into your copy and content.
We talk about:
About Laura
Laura Belgray, founder of Talking Shrimp® and co-creator of The Copy Cure, is a copywriting expert who helps entrepreneurs find the perfect words to express and sell what they do in a way that gets them paid to be themselves. Through her work with hundreds of clients (including online biggies like Marie Forleo and Amy Porterfield) she’s seen firsthand that putting “you” into your copy and all through your business is pure magic for getting people to love you up, share your ideas, and happily click your Buy button.
In addition to online types, Laura’s list of clients and credits include NBC, Bravo, HBO, TBS, Fandango, and many, many more. So if you watch TV -- and don’t skip the commercials -- you've probably seen her words on air.

You're probably familiar with the phrase, "It's not what you know, it's who you know." My guest today, Julie Brown, shares just how true this common idiom really is!
85% of companies know that building relationships affects their bottom line and the success and profitability of their company, but only 26% have an actual strategy for building and maintaining relationships.
We're not taught relationship-building and networking in school (at least, not on purpose). Julie Brown fell into the art and science of networking and training others to do it better, by realizing how important it was for the companies she was working for.
The more she grew relationships and learned about others, the more consistently she got new opportunities and bigger projects.

Join me in my conversation with Davey Shlasko, as we approach the topic of inclusion from a different lens.
Inclusion has been something that I, personally, have been looking and reflecting on where I need to do work within myself, and how I can take more action as an advocate for others. As Davey shares in this podcast, it starts there. It starts with each of us taking a personal inventory and seeing where we need to step it up to make an impact.
We discuss:
How we can create more inclusion with our businesses
As an educator, author, and consultant, Davey’s passion is facilitating adult learning that supports organizational and systemic change for social justice. In addition to managing Think Again, Davey has authored several chapters in Teaching for Diversity and Social Justice and Readings for Diversity and Social Justice including curricula on classism, ableism, and cissexism (transgender oppression), and also teaches as an Adjunct Associate Professor in social theory and trans studies at Smith College School for Social Work. Davey has an M.Ed. in Social Justice Education from UMass, Amherst, and has been writing and teaching about social justice issues since 2000. (Home base: Boston, MA)

I absolutely love being a podcast host and hearing all the fascinating stories about how and why my guests started their businesses. Sometimes a personal event made them do it, some have always known they wanted to have their own business, and the stories are just awesome and so unique!
This month, as we've been focused on productivity, tools, organization, and patterns around that… it’s also so fun to see the differences in ourselves as we achieve what we need / want to.
That's exactly what today's guest, JoAnn Krall is going to share with us! Not just how it's OK to be different when it comes to organization, but how to declutter digitally and physically in a way that harnesses the method to your very own madness.
In our conversation, we discuss:

"Actionable info and the stories I need to keep going...
The advice and info are awesome but there’s something more here. I love listening to Emily draw out the stories of my fellow women entrepreneurs.
When I feel isolated in my work (I work in relationships and it still happens!), it’s these stories that remind me we are creating something in community too."
