Firstly, keep the seller's best interest in mind. They'll be looking for the most money and the best deal they can get, not yours. Focus on what the other party wants, and focus on attracting more flies with honey instead of vinegar.

When administrative burdens were growing increasingly hard, the hours started getting harder to manage, and she was getting older, Mary Claire Haver, MD, and her husband decided they needed a change.  She was burning out and she knew she needed to find alternative sources of income.   

She started looking about 5 years ago, and she started in direct sales in a skin care company. It taught her entrepreneurship, business, and running a team.   Her husband, a successful oilfield engineer, kept looking for ways to diversify their income. Together they wanted to teach their kids that going to school and working for others wasn't the only way to be successful. 

They had the opportunity to move overseas for two years. She took a sabbatical and they had sold their house to their company and bought a new one with the equity.  When they returned to the US, they wanted to build, but instead lived in their small house, paid it off, and began to plan. They lived there for four years while they bought the lot (with cash), met with architects, and planned to pay off the new house as soon as it was finished.

However, when the time came to sell it, they thought, "Wait a minute... this could be rental property." And it happened.  Listen in as Whitney and Dr. Haver talk about how she and her husband started their rental company, how she and her husband work it, and how she came to start her other business to help menopausal women lose weight and love their body.

The truth is a nice thing to hear, but you shouldn't lie to others so that you feel good. It's not good for you, it's not good for them, and it's definitely not good for your business.

Stop lying to each other so you and others "feel" happy. So we don't have to pretend around each other. We don't have to hurt feelings, but just let others know that their way of doing business won't work for you.

Stand up for yourself. Stand up and let others know how you need/want things to go in your life and business. Stand up for the things and people that fit in your life.

Tell people your truth. Stop lying to people just so you're "nice."

Listen to the voice that says you can do it, listen to the voice that says keep going, listen to the voice that says you have to work it.
