Welcome to the She Is Awakening Seasonal Journal Podcast, where we create space to connect with our Creator and ourselves through each season. This week, in episode 10 of the Summer Seasonal Journal, Susan Beth discusses the importance of intentional living and grounding ourselves in the present moment. She explores the practice of walking barefoot on the earth—whether it's on dew-kissed grass or warm golden sand—and how this simple act can help us slow down and connect with God.
Susan reflects on the miraculous stories in scripture that involve the earth, including Genesis 2:7, where God breathes life into humanity from the dust, and John 9, where Jesus uses mud to heal a blind man. She invites listeners to embrace the whimsy and wisdom of walking barefoot, encouraging them to reflect on the supernatural formation of mankind and consider the benefits of grounding.
Matthew 11:28-30 (The Message): "Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you'll recover your life. I'll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me—watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace."
Genesis 2:7: "Then the Lord God formed a man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being."
John 9: The story of Jesus restoring sight to the blind man with mud.
Take some time to read Genesis 2 and reflect on the supernatural formation of mankind.
Reflect on the story of Jesus restoring sight to the blind man in John 9. How does this story remind you of God's ability to bring healing to your life?
When was the last time you went barefoot outside and felt the natural earth under your feet? How did it make you feel?
Research and explore the concept of grounding. How might this practice help you slow down and be present with God?Consider yourself invited to step outside, take off your shoes, and feel the grass or sand beneath your feet. Let this practice be a reminder that the Creator who formed you from the dust of the earth is with you, walking with you through every season of life.
God, who holds the earth together, also holds you. He desires to walk with you and co-labor with you in revealing His goodness and mercy in the world. Trust in His faithfulness to complete the work He started in you.
