Mark has spent the last few weeks looking at some of his favourite musical theatre personalities on both sides of the Atlantic, but today he's taking a sideways look at something completely different- his top ten guilty theatrical pleasures. The sort of things you're kind of embarrassed to admit you enjoy.

You've already heard Mark talk about his top ten favourite leading ladies of Broadway musicals in this series. Today it's the turn of the men -- a slightly less hotly contested category, but nevertheless still crucial.

Last week Mark chose his top ten favourite Broadway Leading Ladies; today it's the turn of the West End, with his top ten favourites. This was quite possibly the hardest list to compile, so far...

Today may prove to be one of his most controversial episodes yet, because everyone has an opinion on this, namely, who they'd choose as their personal favourite Broadway leading ladies? Who will be number one..?

This week's episode is particularly bittersweet, as we can't actually go to any at the moment: Mark's favourite West End theatres.

Next month will mark the first anniversary on March 15 when they were suddenly shut down thanks to the prohibition on public gatherings instituted by COVID, and although there was a brief return for some in November, they've gone back into hibernation and there's no return date now for when they're likely to re-open. So this week Mark pays a virtual visit to some of them.

Back in the day, Broadway and West End musicals were regularly turned into feature films, and though there's a fair few of those in this top ten list, these days it is the stage that depends on the movies for inspiration a lot.
