Asaph had a problem. Envy was eating him up and causing him to see the world, other people, and himself in a distorted way. He expressed this issue to us in Psalm 73, and he also gives the solution.

What makes you go "ahh"? 

Psalm 1 has the ultimate "ahh" moment. What is it that would allow us all to live in a constant state of "ahh"? No, it's not impossible. It's God's promise!

Jesus wasn't mad at Martha--he wasn't even chastising her for doing bad things. She wasn't doing anything bad; in fact, she was doing good things! But there's something better...actually, the best thing.

The battle plan was not what Joshua expected, to say the least. No swords, no fighting, no military strategy…just marching, trumpeting, and shouting? Joshua knew he didn’t need to ask, “Why?” And here’s the beautiful thing: neither do we!

Everyone wants to know “the secret.” The secret to joy in life, to fulfillment in career, to being able to move on, to being able to weather catastrophes. Paul told the Philippians he had learned the secret of contentment, but then he never defined the secret—he never shared it! …Or did he?

For a man who seems to have all the courage in the world, it seems an odd thing to pray for courage. But that's exactly what Paul did: pray for courage to make Jesus big in his life and in his death. It's our prayer, too--we need courage to make Jesus "mega." But the best news here is what Jesus would have said, had he written the letter instead of Paul. And that's all I'll say for now...you'll just have to listen!

Bad things happen. All the time. Joseph found that in his life; you have and you will see it in the world and in your life as well. We generally want to know the “why,” but God gives us something better: the solution to all our afflictions.

No one wanted to go near her, let alone have her infringe on their meal. No one wanted anything to do with her.

Except Jesus.

Jesus got dirty and got personal, and that gives us something to hold to.

“Be calm,” they say. And you think, “What? How? Look at everything going on…and you just tell me ‘be calm’??” That’s exactly what Jesus said, and what Jesus says.

Every time you say “yes” to something, you say “no” to something else. And vice versa: every “no” is a “yes” to something else. What you say “no” and “yes” to will depend on what you value, what you hold most dear, and what is most important to you.

So what are your “no’s” and “yes’s”?
