There is a worsening crisis in the US maternal health world. My guest today, 𝗧𝗮𝗿𝗮 𝗧𝗵𝗼𝗺𝗽𝘀𝗼𝗻, is a CNA, Prenatal/Postpartum Specialist, massage therapist, childbirth educator, doula, who in a year of pandemic and social upheaval, has made it her business to do what she can to change that. Tara is using her talents, experience and new-found tech-savvy to effect change and save lives thru her new virtual company, Tara's Birth Services, and her new charity, Nourish in Atlanta.

- The US has the highest maternal mortality rate in the developed world; 17 women die for every 100,000 live births.
- This is more than double what it is in any other wealthy country in the world.
- It's also double what it was 30 years ago so the situation is getting more dangerous for women having their babies,
- Black and Indigenous women, are 2-3 times more likely to die in childbirth than white women,
- Rural women are 60% more likely to die than urban women
It is therefore, for no small reason, that what Tara is doing is so important. Tara works with mothers-to-be in creating the best and safest birth possible for them, through pregnancy and labor support, childbirth education, and prenatal massage, post-natal check-ins, pregnancy subscription boxes AND her new charity service to help feed and care for post-natal moms, Nourish Atlanta.
