This week on Shhh My Kids Are Asleep, we’re running it back to Thanksgiving — fun, comedy, and a whole lot of love. My aunt came to visit, and listen… she did NOT play in the kitchen. Her seasoning? Legendary. Like, “remember this for future generations” level.
We spent most of the holiday cooking shoulder-to-shoulder — Eastern Indian butter chicken, gumbo, crawfish étouffée, and of course the Thanksgiving spread. The kids jumped in to help (because honestly, children are way less complicated than thawing a turkey), and it turned into one of those core memories I didn’t even realize I was making.
I also learned something new: apparently my husband speaks French?? He and my aunt had full conversations while I stood there like “okay, linguistic king!” She even taught me two phrases, one sweet and one very spicy! And don’t worry — the running joke of the week was me confidently calling H-E-B… H & B. My aunt let me rock with it the whole trip.
We wrapped things up with a family day at a fancy theatre to see Zootopia 2 — recliners, food service, the works. She had the time of her life, and honestly… so did we.
Grab a snack and come hang with me — it’s a rewind worth listening to.
