Shift Happens

Molly Downs-Stoller is  a gay, Christian, Marriage and Family Therapist who lives in San Diego with her wonderful wife Sue and their dog Sir Andrew James.  She has a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work from Point Loma Nazarene University and a Master’s Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from the University of San Diego.

Molly talks with Joe about her growing up Catholic but entering the world of evangelicalism through a Southern Baptist church camp. She talks about the pain of coming into her sexuality, the loss of friends and community that came with that but the beauty and good fruit that met her on the other side.

Madison Morrigan is a Leadership Coach, Creative Consultant, writer, facilitator and host of the Everything Belongs podcast. She uses self-inquiry, emotional alchemy & embodiment to guide folks back to self-belonging, full expression and living their liberation.

Dr. David P. Gushee (PhD, Union Theological Seminary, New York) is an ethicist, pastor, author, and advocate. He is the Distinguished University Professor of Christian Ethics at Mercer University, and Chair of Christian Social Ethics at Vrije Universiteit (“Free University”) Amsterdam, and Senior Research Fellow, International Baptist Theological Study Centre.

Dr. Gushee talks to us about his journey out of conservative evangelicalism, how he came to the position he does and his book "Changing Our Minds".

Elizabeth's story is a long and complicated one. She worked for racial equality while a college student in Mississippi, in the 60's but her work for the queer community didn't start until her husband came out in the 70's. Through all the ups and downs, Elizabeth has let love guide her and it hasn't steered her wrong yet. 

Elizabeth is the Vice Chair of the PFLAG Gainesville Chapter and has long worked for racial and LGBTQ+ equality. She is active in local and state politics as well.

Joe talks to Mike Maeshiro. Mike is a former staff member of Bethel church and now is a consultant and life coach for queer and deconstructing Christians.
