  • Job 3: Permission to Lament

What do you do when life feels like too much? In Job 3, after seven days of silence, Job finally speaks, and the first thing he does is curse the day he was born. In this episode, Celeste Viciere, LMHC, slows down with one of the rawest chapters in the Bible instead of rushing to the happy ending.

We explore lament, the honest grief we bring before God, and why it's found all through scripture, from the Psalms to Jesus on the cross. We talk about why we can't just gloss over pain, how ignored feelings weigh us down, what to do when you feel like you don't want to be here, and the healing that can happen in the waiting.

This week's practice: Write your own lament. Name what hurts, ask what you don't understand, and write what you're still holding onto. Then sit for five quiet minutes, outside if you can.

This episode discusses grief and feelings of not wanting to live. If you're struggling, please call or text 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline), or call 911 in an emergency.

Next episode: Job 4โ€“14, When Friends Try to Fix It.

  • Romans 12:2: Be Transformed

What does it really mean to be transformed by the renewing of your mind? In this first episode of Shift & Scripture, Celeste Viciere, LMHC, shares why she started this show and slows down with Romans 12:2, the verse at the heart of it all.

We look at the setting of Paul's letter to the Romans, unpack the original Greek words behind "conform," "transformed," and "renewing," and explore what this verse has to say about the patterns we absorb, why change is a process, and why caring for your body is part of renewing your mind.

This week's practice: Each morning, read Romans 12:2, take three slow breaths, and pray, "God, renew one thought in me today."

Next episode: we begin Season 1, Faith When It Hurts, with Job 1โ€“2.

  • Job 1โ€“2: When Everything Falls Apart

What do you do when you lose everything and don't understand why? In this episode, we begin Season 1, Faith When It Hurts, with Job 1 and 2. Celeste Viciere, LMHC, shares her honest struggle with this book, from the question that bothered her to the hope she found inside it.

We walk through Job's devastating losses, his wife's response, and the friends who sat with him in silence for seven days. Then we explore what it means that grief and faith can exist together, why the enemy has limits, how grief shows up in the body, and why presence matters more than answers.

This week's practice: Write down one loss you're carrying, and under it one thing you're still holding onto. Or sit with someone who's hurting without trying to fix it.

This episode discusses deep loss, including the loss of children.
