Do you have a meditation practice? If not, this week's episode will make you try meditation and change your train of thoughts into more positive ones. It's all about mind over matter and becoming highly meditated.
This week's episode is about peacefulness and concentration. It focuses on how our wellness can be harmonized with our body thru meditation. For so many battling with cancer, it easy to fall into the trap of negative talk and thoughts. That's why we turned to this week's guest speaker Angela Sanders, who is an expert in mindfulness meditation
Angela has been a meditator for over 18 years and believe it or not, her journey with meditation started with her also being in crisis mode. She understands how the chatter of life and our technologically-driven society can make it easy for us to fall off the tracks of homeostasis. She has been teaching mindfulness professionally for over five years. She knows the benefits of it thru her own journey and shares how its daily practice can benefit you.
"When you are going thru a health challenge such as cancer, you are thinking about things that might happen in the future. You may be lamenting about things that happen in the past and all those things. Future thinking and pasting thinking are robbing you from the present moment."
Remember that mindfulness is being in the present moment without judgment and noticing what is really happening in a moment. This all happens thru our breathing and turning off the fight or flight mode that releases cortisol and adrenaline, which can cause inflammation in the body and cause negative effects in the immune system and can even rob our ability to fight cancer at a certain level.
Want to start meditating? Remember, it all starts with intention and daily practice. Angela recommends 10 minutes a morning for starters.
With meditation, you will be able to manage pain more effectively. You will downshift your stress hormones and upshifting your feel-good hormone. Join the domino-effect of well-being thru meditation.
"You have the power to influence your physical and emotional health."
