  • Be Still and Know Daily Bible Devotion - October 27th - Matthew 5:10
    Matthew 5:10
Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
The life to which Jesus calls us is one of blessing. This is life at its very best. But Jesus never tried to disguise the fact that His followers would face rejection and persecution just as He did. Jesus assures His followers in every age that if they stand up for the truth, there will inevitably be many people who have a vested interest in bringing them down.
Persecution is normally subtle. For the majority of Christians in Eastern Europe during the communist era, the challenge was not the likelihood of imprisonment or martyrdom. That happened from time to time for a few, but the ever-present daily challenges were in areas such as education and employment. I recall visiting Romania during those tough years and hearing about the relentless daily pressures on Christians because they weren’t card-carrying communists.
In our society, the challenges are very different, but they are inevitable. In a society that has long since rejected Christianity, it can be exceptionally hard to speak about personal faith. We will often be accused and even mocked for our faith. Many Christians live with a continual barrage of sarcasm. And if you find yourself in a position where you believe your organisation is acting unethically, it can be incredibly tough to stand up for truth and justice.
Jesus is not encouraging us to go looking for persecution and suffering, but rather to be totally unsurprised when it happens.
    Question
In what ways have you faced resistance because of your Christian faith?
    Prayer
Loving God, give me Your strength day by day so that I will be able to stand strongly for You, whatever the challenges. Amen

  • That Sounds Fun with Annie F. Downs - Unlock Your Creativity and Discover How God Wants to Use You with Al Gordon- Episode 1091

God made you creative and your gifts have a purpose.

Today we start talking about another rhythm that’s helping us get spiritually stronger: service. We're talking about how to serve in your gifting, how to recognize the ways God has uniquely wired you, and how to use those gifts to bring hope to the people around you.

Al Gordon is a Christian leader, pastor, and voice in the global creative movement within the church. He’s the founder of Renaissance, leads SAINT, a church in East London that was planted with a mission to bring hope and renewal to a neighborhood where less than 1% of people attend church. Al recently released his book Spark in March and it’s the perfect resource for this conversation.

And what was He doing before the world existed? In this message from God Only Knows, Pastor Levi Lusko tackles one of the biggest questions about God's existence. Teaching from Psalm 90, he explores what it means that God has no beginning, exists outside of time, and depends on nothing and no one. Discover how understanding who God is can change the way you see yourself, face uncertainty, and live with purpose—and why the infinite nature of God is something to find comfort in, not fear. This message will help you:– Understand what the Bible teaches about God's origin, eternality, and self-existence.– Discover why a bigger view of God changes how you approach anxiety, uncertainty, and fear.– Recognize how your understanding of God shapes your worship, decisions, and daily life.– Find peace and purpose in knowing the eternal God who created you and invites you to know Him.NEXT STEPS:Ask for prayer or connect with a pastor: https://freshlife.church/contactRegister your decision to follow Jesus and receive free resources: https://freshlife.church/know-godGive a financial gift to support what God is doing as we take steps forward to see the Gospel reach far and wide: https://freshlife.church/giveSUBSCRIBE:Sign up to receive encouragement straight to your inbox, and to stay up to date with announcements, events, and more: https://church.us13.list-manage.com/subscribe?u=6ea4d82b2567db3e86b7767cd&id=451f2fe63eDon’t miss a video!
