Coach Martin is a perfect guest for the Shooters Touch. A basketball junkie who has spent a ton of time in the coaching ranks here in Iowa and the Midwest. He comes to Coe from The University of North Dakota where he helped bring that school from Division II to Division I. It's super interested talking to him about that team and some of the trials and tribulations of no post season or conference affiliation.

Aaron Thomas grew up like many did playing every sport he could. Realizing basketball was his best chance for continued play, he accepted a scholarship to play at Drake University. Through a few other schools he is now coaching at Aplington-Parkersburg. He has some great stories about his influences, his philosophy and how hard work still plays a vital part in playing at the next level!

Coach Jilek's passion for coaching is unrivaled. Originally from Mason City, he was a multi sport athlete and his first love was baseball. Like a lot of our guests he got his basketball coaching start by chance and necessity. One of his strategies is to grow a program from the younger athletes to create total buy in. It seems to be working as Johnston was the 2020 class 5a Girls champions and Coach Jilek was awarded the All- Iowa Girl's Basketball Coach of the Year!

Doug McDermott ranks 5th all time in scoring in NCAA history and is one of 3 players with 3,000 points and 1,000 rebounds. His team at Ames High, where he teamed up with Harrison Barnes, was one of the best to come through the state of Iowa. As usual, we talk to Doug about everything from childhood to his brand new NBA coach! He has a great story of hard work and knowing where he wanted to go. Justin Ohl's coaching career started under Dr. Tom Davis at Drake University. Then went on to coach a team with a 28-5 record and a 5 seed in the NCAA tournament. He's had some talented teams come through Waukee High School as well. But quite possibly his most talented team will step on the floor for him this year. We talked to him about expectations, how COVID has affected the off-season and how the season is shaping up.
