Today I got once again to sit and chat to not only one of Canada's best fighters of all time, but the Vice President of Muay Thai BC - Mr. Jason Fenton!

NOW - before I move on, I just want to say I only have 2 agendas with this podcast #1 - I want it to be successful for me! #2 - I only want to inflate and promote the people who are on the podcast and promote Canadian Muay Thai in a positive way. I have only been on the athlete side of things but I have never been to IFMA, so #1 I wanted to discuss how IFMA worked in general from his time fighting to how it has changed today. I also see Ontario and now BC have really become organized as a provinces in Muay Thai and the growth and team work is undeniable! so I ask Jason 4000 questions about how it works, who answers to who and how this can be implimented in Alberta.

Friend of the show and former President of Muay Thai Canada Robin Finley did explain it to me as well - but me getting to understand is like putting a square peg in a round hole haha, sorta.... not only did Jason explain it, but we didn't move on until I understood. It's rare I wade into these waters, but I can say that after 25+ years in Muay Thai - I still had some genuine questions and confusions. which got answered. In April at the Muay Thai World Cup, we had 2 friends of the show - Quinn Wasylak and Deval Garvey go to battle for the WBC Canadian title at 154lbs and 160lbs with both coming away as new champions and today, we have them BOTH on the podcast to have a chat! we discuss the training done up to their title fights as teammates, how it was fighting in a new venue, and of course - how does it feel to be the champ!

Because these guys are friends of the show, teammates, easy going, good guys of the Canadian scene - I decided I'd have some fun asking these chaps some game show like questions about themselves and about each other, it was actually fun! haha.

I am a big fan of these men and champions, I knew this podcast would be a good chat and a lot of fun - which it was.

Their's a few BIG names on the Canadian scene at 147lbs - But todays guest, THOMAS MANDRA gets my vote for #1 at the moment!!!! I have never talked to Thomas AT ALL before the podcast, but I have been a follower and fan since his Road To One debut a few years ago, since - Thomas has been putting EVERYONE ON NOTICE!!! winning not just the WBC Canadian title, but another 9 titles to his name and growing I'm sure! Thomas has a BIG dust up and rematch at the end of the month with Victor Alvim, first one was a kickboxing bout as amateurs this time its for Thomas's WBC Welterweight title as a pro on the Muay Thai World Cup promotion May 31st!

Of course I ask Thomas his top 3 GOATS and remind him it was Mothers Day for his shout out (wink! haha)

Anthony is currently one of the most active fighters in Canada taking action EVERYWHERE HE CAN FIND! including a month ago where he won a Muay Thai Canada national title in Ottawa and last weekend, winning a WKA North American title stateside in Washington. Of course we talk about those 2 specific fights, we also chat about where and how he fell in love with Muay Thai, some of his favorite wins and not so favorite losses, going professional when the time comes. April 5 I was had the opportunity to go commentate in our National capital for the Capital Punishment promotion which is organized by retired (maybe...) professional fighter and now coach, Mr. Ben Pride of Westside Muay Thai in Ottawa, Ontario. I have known Ben ever since June, 2014 when he fought a former fighter of mine on Journey Fight Series (shout out to team Smandych! we miss JFS!!!) in an 8-man tournament, and I have been following Ben ever since!

We have a chat about his event - Capital Punishment and what his motivation is to host a fight event, of course we talk about some of the key match ups that went down including the main event for the Muay Thai Canada national title. I ask Ben where and when he found Muay Thai, Ben tells us about some of his adventures in Thailand, why Westside Muay Thai has such a reputation for clinch fighters and - IS BEN LOOKING AT COMING BACK FOR ANOTHER TILT?! - you'll have to listen to the podcast I guess!!!

of course I hit Ben with a top 3 question and he cheated with his 1 shout out allowed! haha.

ANOTHER example of "knowing" someone for a longtime, but really connecting through the podcast and finding out more about the people driving the Canadian Muay Thai scene forward for all of us. MAN, I am grateful for this lil hobby of mine - SHOUT OUT TO YOU BEN!

This weekend it's here - THE MUAY THAI WORLD CUP!! it is going down just west of Calgary at the beautiful Stoney Nakoda Resort and Casino (driven by 10,000x over the last 40 years, first time going there!!) with 3 professional title fights and 1 amateur title dust up on the itinerary, backed by a GREAT undercard of exciting match ups, I can't wait!

Muay Thai World Cup CEO, Kieran Keddle joins me on this podcast to help break down some of the key match ups including all 4 title fights, how the event came together and how some key match ups were made as well as the venue itself! and of course my ADHD got in the way and we take a side road and have a good chat about fighting legend, Anuwat Kaewsamrit!

MTWC fight nights are always so exciting for me, seeing not just fighters I know or have commentated before, but I always enjoy seeing my Muay Thai peers all in one room at the same time at such an awesome event - THIS WEEKEND INCLUDED!

I'm back ONCE AGAIN, with Rob from Turkey and Pistols out in Bragg Creek! as discussed at nauseum on the podcast - Rob was a BIG driving force behind this podcast from the logo, the website and simply just a person whose opinion I trust and someone who I simply enjoy being around.

Although we definitely talk fights, fight movies, the scene around Alberta, etc. we also chat about growth and goals both in our business's in Calgary and Bragg Creek as well as martial arts training - and how they connect.

It's rare I do a podcast without an agenda, but I genuinely like sitting with my friend Rob and shootin' the breeze about what we have going on in life, and honestly - I sometimes need that in my own life! no agenda, no topics, let's just grab a cold one and have a chat. LOVE IT!

Spring is almost here and theirs a TON of fight events coming up from coast to coast! LOVE IT!

Today I get to chat with one of Canada's best trainers, fighters (retired) and gym owners - from Diamond Muay Thai in Toronto, Mr. Tony Manoharan! I have known Tony for a long time, seen him fight in Calgary, I fought a teammate of his, and we've seen each other at different events. BUT AGAIN - this is the 1st time I have got to sit and have a real chat.

We talk about his upbringing and what brought him to Muay Thai, his time in Australia fighting in 4oz gloves in a cage when it wasn't cool yet, his event promotions - Art of War and InFightStyle Cup (busy fella!) and of course his gym, Diamond Muay Thai!

I also ask Tony some fun random questions and his top 3. I have always known Tony to be a stand up, high standard kinda guy and I am happy to connect with him properly and learn more about his life in and outside of Muay Thai. Connecting with my community really is my favorite thing I get to do. SHOUT OUT TO YOU TONY!

Today we take a break from the punch and kick, but still a MASSIVE topic in the fight world - WEIGH INS!

I got to chat with the Wizard of the weight cut, the Sorcerer of the scale, the lunch before punch professional - Coach TJ Whelan! TJ has worked with the some the top fighters on the planet (Nico Carrillo and Jake Peacock to name a few) make sure they beat the 1st fight (scale) not just but lbs, but how to do it optimally for combat.

We discuss how he juggles so many clients world wide, how to prepare yourself before the weight cut starts, and how close to fight time he is still involved with food and hydration.

This is definitely not a field of the fight world I have insight on, but theirs no fight if you can't make weight and we all know how important a proper weight cut means in todays fight world - so I was happy to have TJ on and dive into the fight beyond the punch and kick.

Got learnt today a bit! lots of information from a guy who knowns this side of the fight game better than most! SHOUT OUT TO YOU TJ!!
