In this episode we discuss the challenges faced by leaders when it comes to organisational bloat and the difficulty of stopping initiatives.

We explored the factors that drive the natural inclination to start something new and looked at how this can distract from profitable areas of the business.

To help you out we talk through simple practical tips, like implementing routine check-ins for "stop, start, continue" discussions. This will help you stay focused on what really matters and be open to change.

  • E11 - Minimum Viable Leadership

Early in this series we stumbled on an idea we called Minimum Viable Leadership. How can leaders try new things and consciously monitor the impact of what they are trying?

This episode is an exploration of this concept and how it might be helpful for leaders.

The concept built from the idea of Minimum Viable Product - a widely used technique for innovating products and services.

If you want to adapt, update and innovate on your leadership style this idea of Minimum Viable Leadership may spark some ideas for you.

  • E10 - Exploring Diversity in the Workplace

In this conversation Jamie, Graham and Deri discuss diversity in the workplace, and the challenges of leading diverse teams.

It's well known that diverse teams can produce more effective outcomes. Less commonly discussed is the difficulty of working in and leading diverse teams.

Working in diverse teams can be uncomfortable and challenging. Leaders have an important role to play in helping team members and teams thrive in an environment of cognitive diversity.

  • E9 - Making & Keeping Commitments

In this session we discuss the importance of making & keeping commitments as a leader.

We all make many commitments every day. Whether or not we keep those commitments can build or destroy trust.

This is all about getting clear with ourselves and our teams. Holding ourselves accountable can help shine a light on aspects of our psyches that are getting in our own way. We discuss some practical ways to figure out if and why you have failed to keep a commitment.

  • E8 - Self-awareness and finding the right path for you, now

This was due to be an episode about diversity. But Graham wasn't where he wanted to be for a discussion on a sensitive topic like that.

So we switched to something else. That skill and acceptance is important for leaders, and an important lesson: Don't have difficult or sensitive conversations when you're not ready to hold the energy they need.

Instead, we decided to explore that switch. That honest self-awareness that enables us to choose the right path for where we are right now.

As ever, we strive to bring authenticity, honesty and vulnerability to this podcast - just as we encourage you to as leaders.

  • E7 - Talking about Time

In this episode we explore how time impacts our decisions and experiences as leaders. Often we feel short of time - we experience scarcity. In other situations time can feel abundant.

How can leaders harness those feelings and help their teams, and themselves, feel they have enough time to do the things they want to do?

We also talk about time scales, and how optimal leadership can vary depending on the amount of time you have to achieve what you want to achieve, diving into the different leadership styles of England rugby coaches Eddie Jones and Steve Borthwick.

Take a listen and, please, we'd love you to take the time to tell us what you think.

  • E6 - Will Having a King Make a Difference to Men in this Country?

    Episode 6 is here!

We were nervous about recording this episode! Gender is a contentious issue in the world today and we were very conscious of being three men discussing this topic.

We explore the changing gender roles in the workplace and how the transition from the reign of Queen Elizabeth to King Charles may influence the way men show up as leaders.

As ever, our goal was to approach this discussion with openness, curiosity and compassion. We hope you get as much from hearing the discussion as we did having it.
