So I figure how can we handle struggles not by resting or pushing through on our "real" writing, but by being weird.

Yeah, he was a cranky old man, writer of super long Bible fanfic, and helped with regicide a little bit, but he also was a strong anti-censorship advocate. Which, considering you could lose your head for writing something offensive, was pretty damn brave.
