Host Paul Cardall returns from his semi-annual heart transplant checkup to share his concern regarding side effects of ongoing Xray and CT scan procedures. A single chest x-ray exposes the patient to about 0.1 mSv. This is about the same amount of radiation people are exposed to naturally over the course of about 10 days. In the final stages of heart failure, Paul received a minimum of 40 x-rays during a two month period.
