Siegel and Shuster Society Podcast

With James Gunn’s Superman soaring into theaters soon, Cleveland is gearing up to celebrate its heroic roots — and we’re right in the heart of it. In this episode, we’re joined by Valentino L. Zullo a board member of the Siegel & Shuster Society, to talk about all the exciting Superman-themed events happening across the city ahead of the film’s release — including exclusive details about the special screening event we’re hosting.

Special Guest: Valentino L. Zullo.

Derek and Luke talk the Summer of Superman as the spotlight is on Cleveland as the backdrop for Metropolis in July's "Superman" from director James Gunn - and Luke sits down to talk with writers Max and Benjamin Berkowitz about their comic "The Writer" in collaboration with actor Josh Gad and its influences from Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster.

Luke and Derek discuss their shared love for the intrepid Lois Lane and are joined by sculptor David L. Deming to discuss the Superman statues he's crafted that will be unveiled at Tribute Plaza in Cleveland. Plus, Professor Bailey returns for a lesson in the history of Lois Lane.

Hosts Derek Russell from The House of El and Luke Bugg aka The Geek of Steel take you back to 1938 in this inaugural episode of the official Siegel and Shuster Society Podcast, honoring the legacy and tapestry of Superman. In their first outing, Russell and Bugg discuss their own storied histories with the Man of Steel, sit down with the Siegel and Shuster Society foundation's board president (and Jerry Siegel relative), Gary Kaplan, and are visited by Professor Bailey with an installment of "Superman 101" about the history of Action Comics #1.

Special Guest: Gary Kaplan.

Join hosts Luke Bugg aka The Geek of Steel and Derek Russell from The House of El as they embark on a mission to commemorate and celebrate the history of Superman and his creators, Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster.
