The defending state champion Chino Valley girls soccer team couldn’t find the back of the net in this season’s title game as the Cougars lost to the Northland Prep Academy Spartans 2-0 in Mesa on Saturday. “It was a great game,” head coach DJ Daniels said. “They play a great game of soccer, we have a great brand of soccer and I’m real proud of my girls.” Northland Prep put Chino Valley behind early in the game as senior Hannah Petrucci scored a goal in the 16th minute of the opening period. That would be it for either side for...

It’s Friday morning, a day for new beginnings, the day of my son’s wedding. For those that don’t know, Captain Eric Merrill will officiate – even though I still hold just a bit of resentment based on his officiating Kayleen and Nate’s wedding. This will be the first time we’ve had someone other than my uncle, a pastor, officiate a wedding for someone in our...
