This past week in Prescott Valley,  Humboldt Education Foundation's Hungry Kids Project completed their 7th annual All-School Food Drive. With the help of Hungry Kids Volunteer Coordinator, Molly Duren, the Prescott Valley Early Bird Lions Club, and the Prescott Valley community, the food drive collected over 15,840 items. The "Hungry Kids Project" helps to ensure that no child goes to school hungry. Although there is weekday programs to ensure school children get efficient nutrients, what about the weekends? Fire Managers on the Bradshaw Ranger District will continue pile burning in the Prescott Basin near Walker, Ponderosa Park/White Spar, Copper Basin, Lynx Lake, Thumb Butte, and Granite Basin. The Town of Prescott Valley has contracted with Earth Resources Corporation to begin construction on the Florentine Road Improvement Project. Work is scheduled to begin on Monday, March 14, 2022, and is scheduled for completion by January 2023. Road improvements on Florentine will take place from Navajo Drive and Grizzly Bear Drive.Utility relocations have started at Grizzly Bear Drive and roadway construction improvements will follow. The Arizona Department of Transportation advises drivers who travel Interstate 17 to plan for I-17 overnight closures between Bloody Basin Road and State Route 69 while ADOT crews perform guardrail repair work. north The following restrictions will occur overnight from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m.: Wednesday, March 2, to Friday, March 4: Northbound I-17 will be narrowed to one lane from Bloody Basin Road to the junction of SR 69 (mileposts 259-262). The Prescott Valley Chamber of Commerce announces that applications for the 2022 Chamber Scholarships are now available. Applicants must be graduating from a Prescott Valley school or live in Prescott Valley.
