Fire Managers on the Bradshaw Ranger District will continue to burn debris piles near Walker, Ponderosa Park/White Spar, Copper Basin, Lynx Lake, and Thumb Butte near Prescott, AZ. Ignitions are planned to start on Monday, January 31, 2022, and continue through Monday, February 28, 2022, as favorable weather conditions allow. Fire managers expect smoke impacts to be light in the surrounding areas. During the month of January, firefighters burned over 1,000 acres of piles in the Prescott Basin. The Prescott Fire Department has implemented a new unit in their emergency response system. Recently, City Council gave the approval to stand up an alternative response unit, which will give Prescott Fire Department the opportunity to improve response times, improve unit reliability, save wear and tear on larger apparatus, and provide better service to citizens. The department is calling the unit AR-76. We are utilizing an existing staff vehicle to place the adaptive response unit in service. This smaller response vehicle will have a crew of 2 to 3 people and will operate during peak hours, 40 hours a week....

The City of Prescott is pleased to announce plans for a new 220,000 square foot FedEx Ground distribution facility near Prescott Regional Airport. The new Yavapai County Justice Center, being built on Prescott Lakes Parkway, celebrated a milestone yesterday. The Topping Out event took place from 11:00 AM to just after noon and was attended by many of the local City and Town Council Members as well as Mayors and three of the Yavapai County Board of Supervisors. During the week of January 16, 2022, the Traffic Safety Section of the Prescott Police Department conducted extra traffic enforcement on Iron Springs Road. Officers concentrated their efforts on this roadway looking for dangerous and reckless violations to include speeding violations and other obvious violations. Officers stopped 43 vehicles which resulted in 63 traffic violations. The Prescott Police Department will continue traffic enforcement details throughout the city in an effort to slow traffic down in order to reduce serious traffic crashes. The Arizona Department of Transportation advises drivers to plan for daytime lane closures on State Route 89 south of Prescott while drainage ditches are cleared and vegetation removal is underway. The closures are scheduled from 7 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 31, and Tuesday, Feb. 1. Motorists should expect delays of up to 30 minutes while the following restrictions are in place: SR 89 will be narrowed to one lane only with alternating north- and southbound travel between mileposts 305 and 309.
