    Governor Doug Ducey today launched Arizona’s new Cyber Command Center at a ceremony at the Department of Public Safety’s Arizona Counter Terrorism Information Center (ACTIC) in Phoenix. “Cybersecurity is homeland security. Our society is becoming increasingly interconnected through technology, and cybersecurity has become one of the most important issues facing Arizona,” said Governor Ducey. “This new command center will be critical in protecting Arizonans and ensuring our cyber infrastructure remains safe and secure. I’m hopeful that the U.S. Department of Homeland Security will recognize the success of these partnerships on cybersecurity and begin to treat border security just as seriously.”...

    In late July, a strong storm came through Dewey-Humboldt that caused damage to the converter flue chamber and smelter stack structures on the former Humboldt Smelter property. On September 15, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality (ADEQ) visited the property with our contractors. This site visit informs options to further restrict access to the safety hazards posed at the smelter property, including the unsafe and unstable structures.     Yavapai College has begun the process of launching baccalaureate degrees, more commonly referred to as four-year degrees. Under the leadership of College President Dr. Lisa B. Rhine, YC has formed a working group to research potential fits, identify community needs, establish a curriculum, and launch possible four-year degrees.     It was just 70 years ago today, October 1, 1951, when the last of all black units of the US 8th Army stationed in Korea were either disbanded or had white soldiers added, ending military segregation during the war.
