  • I'm Not Smart, I'm Just Poor

  • Where The F*ck Is Tobey Maguire | Into The Spider-Verse

Another day, another Spiderman. For September's themed episode of Similarly Different, we dive real deep into the critically-acclaimed "Into The Spider-Verse". The animated superhero film that took the world by storm in 2018 because of its new-age animation strategy, and diverse cast of characters, is broken down by an animation fanatic/professional (Dylan) and a self-proclaimed superhero expert (Robert). We talk about the big issues, why a middle-school child wouldn't be listening to Post Malone, where is Tobey Maguire in this film, our love for Jake Johnson and John Mulaney, and whether or not some of the criticism the film got was warranted.

  • Not A Math Podcast
AYE, welcome back! It’s been a long year without Similarly Different. If you’re returning, you’re a legend, thank you. A bit of change to the format of the podcast. Most importantly, adding Dylan Kamalay as a permanent co-host to the show. This week, Dylan and I talk about how we determine our self worth, how education and school help define our generation, parental expectations, and the importance of self-value. This is NOT a math podcast, cockatoo’s get us water, Dylan saw a cat, Robert saw a dog learning to throw balls. Come along with us for the NEW era of Similarly Different.

  • Quitting Photography
Happy Thanksgiving everybody! We're back next week with an incredible guest and new episode, but for now, Robert has a huge announcement that has been in the making for a few months now. Some of you might not like it, but that's just how the cookie crumbles. Enjoy your feasts, we'll see you next week. Cheers.

  • Episode 5 - Chase Newman
This one is ALL ABOUT music. I have Chase Newman, my friend from all the way back to the high school days, on the podcast to talk all things Mac Miller. Chase and I are huge Mac fans, and we were both affected pretty deeply by the death of one our favorite musicians. We talk about our relationship to Mac’s music, our first and last reaction to his final studio album Swimming, the reason behind how we view the record so differently, we go back to Mac’s frat-rap and mixtape days, and share how we’ll remember him. We also talk shortly about our love for rock band Dance Gavin Dance and all of its iterations. Come on in, the water is fine. Cheers.

  • Episode 4 - Kailey Howell
Pardon my terrible allergies in this one, Mother Nature is a bitch. ANYWAY: She runs my magazine as the Editor-In-Chief of Resurget Magazine, and she’s an incredible up-and-coming music photographer in the Detroit-area, Kailey Howell joins me to talk about her start in photography and the transition to music photography, how “popular” photographers are (most times) overrated, the difficulty of women breaking into the music scene, Avril Lavigne’s conspiracy cover up, the reason Robert has never shot a local show, and finally we critique each other's photos in a fun segment. For photo reference of the critiques, hit @similarlydifferentpod on Instagram to see the photos being talked about. Come join us for a good one. Cheers.

  • Episode 3 - Nathan Cottrell
We were born less than nine months apart from each other, and haven’t been more than 20 miles apart from each other since. Conservative leaning, Donald Trump voting, gun-toting, truck driving, country boy, and most importantly my cousin, Nathan Cottrell, joins me to talk about our views on gun control laws and deaths, why it was so difficult for me to choose who to vote for in 2016, Trump’s racism and sexism, separating kids from immigrant families, why he hates Hillary Clinton, the Brett Kavanaugh hearing, and the entire Colin Kaepernick versus the NFL situation. Come join us and hear the literal definition of Similarly Different. Cheers.

  • Episode 2 - Marisa Demos
Instagram influencer, YouTuber, personal trainer and nutritionist, vegan activist, and author Marisa Demos (who just happens to be my lovely girlfriend) joins me to talk about how she got so deep into the world of health and fitness, whether you need to create a fake persona in order to be successful on Instagram or YouTube, Robert’s failed attempt at veganism, the terrible experience of having body dysmorphia, and working towards success in fields determined by follower counts. Come join us and have a grand time. Cheers.

  • Episode 1 - Andrew Mascharka
Minnesota Twins sports photographer Andrew Mascharka joins me to talk being a somewhat successful up-and-coming photographer, whether photographing in Manual is the correct way to photograph as a professional, a few stories on why Robert is disliked in the music photography industry, why choosing a favorite photo that you've taken is so difficult, and much much more. It's a good one, Cheers.
