Doog co-founder of SLo Motion, has a long-standing connection to the North-East electronic music scene through DeathBeforeDisco. His sets explore slower, psychedelic and leftfield electronic music, drawing on house, balearic, acid, electro and experimental sounds.

About the mix

After several major surgeries and breaking multiple bones, I spent years dealing with the physical and mental challenges of recovery. Music became a huge part of that journey - a way to escape, process emotions and find some sense of calm when things were difficult.

This mix reflects that journey: tension, darkness, reflection, release and ultimately hope. I'd also like to credit my Slo Motion partner Rich Britton in this mix as he helped with the track selection having recently experienced the loss of his father.

Music isn't just entertainment. Sometimes it can express things that words can't. I hope this mix helps those who finds themselves in a times of struggle.

Pete Bones’ real love affair with music began after being expelled from school aged 15. With way too much time on his hands, he started a band with 2 close friends. Pete taught himself guitar and drums and they hit the road. After a trip to Ibiza, and the first whisperings of ecstasy and acid house, he decided that electronic music was the future, and traded his drum kit for a pair of technics turntables.

After playing numerous illegal parties around the South East of England he gained his first residency in 1990 at the Hand & Spear in Surrey, and soon turned it into one of the biggest mid-week nights in the UK. Pete's DJ career took off quickly and it wasn't long before he was guesting all over Europe. In '92 he launched Ugly Bug records. It was an instant hit, especially with radio DJs Pete Tong and Judge Jules. Pete became a regular guest on Kiss 100fm, and his first release as his main recording alias, The Shaker, - ‘Just Lick It’, became the club hit of the year. The remix work came flooding in, from labels such as London, FFRR, Hooj, Ore, Fade, and Perfecto. His remix of Zee’s Dreamtime was essential new tune on Pete Tong’s BBC Radio1 show, and finally in ’96 after a 3 way struggle between A&M, XL, and Manifesto, Pete signed to XL Recording as The Shaker.

Bones also signed with the US DJ agency AM Only and started gigging across the USA, and secured residencies at the much revered Firestone and Simon’s clubs in FL’. For most, this would have been the peak of an outstanding career, but Pete was once again yearning for the underground. Despite the massive chart success, Pete reinvented his sound and launched a new label: Red Ant Records; a deeper darker take on Ugly Bug. Over 175 releases later, Red Ant is going from strength to strength. Cutting edge underground dance music.

Pete Bones may not take himself too seriously, his music however, is another story. When Covid hit and we were all confined inside, Bones had the idea of putting a virtual band together and producing the indie dance album he’d always been thinking about doing. One album soon became 3; The Stones Of Convention were born, and still play together once or twice a year when the time can be found.Pete had started his now infamous Fear & Loathing parties and had been asked to host one in Brighton UK. It was a huge success and he immediately fell in love with the place, soon becoming an official resident. He found a permanent venue for F&L at Brighton Electric and the party will now sell out weeks in advance. Whilst still enjoying the thrill of a new gig in a new town, as a DJ there’s nothing better than getting to know your own crowd, and dropping new tunes each week.

Bio:

Peza has been a fixture in the electronic music scene for longer than he cares to admit! When he is not locked away in his studio in deepest darkest Shropshire he can be found playing at clubs and festivals up and down the UK and beyond.

His travels have taken him to stages at festivals and countries such as Switzerland, Beat-Herder Festival, Kala Festival (Albania), Convenanza (France), Evil Acid Barons Weekender, Campo Sancho,Festival No6 and Alfresco, among others. Regularly spinning in European cities such as Tirana, Ibiza, Vienna, and Berlin, he brings an eclectic blend of Acid House, Nu-Disco, House, Electro, and Breakbeat—basically, anything with that indefinable magic.

A master of the unexpected, Peza’s sets are known for his signature edits—breathing new life into forgotten gems or obscure oddities and seamlessly weaving them into the mix. blending music together that you wouldn't necessarily expect, but somehow managing to make it work.

Remixes and collaboration credits include artists such as Gorillaz, Damon Albarn, Joe Goddard, Baba Ali, Greg Wilson, Black Grape, The Duke Spirit, Liela Moss, Dicky Trisco, Mike Smith (Gorillaz/Blur), amongst many others.


Peza is also an integral part of Greg Wilson's 'Credit To The Edit' collective. DJ'ing alongside Greg, Derek Kaye and Henry Greenwood.

Jim HB and Andy Johnson are DJs and producers from Shropshire, West Midlands. They have been DJing together on/off for more than 20 years, originally playing gigs and running their own nights in and around Wolverhampton but more recently playing at venues and festivals in Telford, Shrewsbury, and surrounding areas.

The guys also host a monthly show on Vocal Booth Radio; The Funky Vibes Mixtape, playing a mix of funky, soulful, disco, and deep house music.

Bio:

Based between Athens and London, Virginia Tzioti is a jewellery artist, audiophile, and vinyl selector rooted in Athens’ underground club culture of the ’90s. Shaped by eclectic dancefloors and leftfield electronic sounds, she developed an instinctive, mood-driven approach to music selection that moves freely across sounds, styles, and eras, guided more by atmosphere and emotional flow than genre boundaries. Since the mid-2000s, she has been building a vinyl collection and performing in Greece and internationally since 2015, while also being a regular contributor to the Athens-based online station Fade Radio. Her perspective has been further shaped by New York’s Loft party culture, reinforcing an open-ended and intuitive approach to sound.

About the Curator

This week we welcome Dave Baldwin – the creator and curator of Blueboy's Café, a long-running Balearic music project inspired by the sunsets, spirit and timeless atmosphere of Ibiza.

A lifelong music lover and regular visitor to the White Isle since the 1980s, Dave blends Balearic, chill-out, ambient, soul, jazz and sunset grooves into carefully crafted musical journeys designed to relax the mind, lift the spirit and encourage listeners to slow down.

Ian Crabtree (aka Krabberz) is a UK-based electronic music producer and DJ inspired by a lifelong connection to music. Influenced by the synth sounds of the ’80s, electro, hip-hop, house and techno, he began producing during lockdown, turning a personal creative outlet into a growing catalogue of original releases.

His music has built a loyal following on SoundCloud and Bandcamp, with releases featuring remixes from David Harrow, Rude Audio, Ian Weatherall, Högt I Tak, Airsine, Jay-Son and 10:40. His Engage release on Paisley Dark Records received particular acclaim.

As a DJ, Krabberz takes an instinctive, genre-fluid approach, blending dub, downtempo, breaks, acid, techno and electronica. No fixed lane, no formulas—just selection, flow and a feel for the moment.

About John:

John Paynter is a Leeds-based DJ, producer and founder of Paisley Dark Records, known for deep, genre-blurring sets that drift between Balearic psychedelia, cosmic disco, dub pressure and hypnotic techno.

Now entering its fth year, Paisley Dark has become a respected underground imprint championing tripped-out electronic music, earning support from tastemakers and spins on BBC Radio 6 Music along the way.

A key member of the Balearic Burger crew, John regularly plays at their events in Ibiza and at the legendary Golden Lion in Todmorden, building a reputation for immersive, slow-burning sets rooted in atmosphere and deep musical storytelling.

Alongside running the label and curating the bi-monthly Paisley Dark radio show, John also records under the collaborative moniker A Space Age Freak Out, working with a range of underground artists across the psychedelic and electronic spectrum.

Over the years he has shared line-ups with artists including Andrew Weatherall, ALFOS, Richard Norris, Justin Robertson, Richard Sen, James Holroyd, Paranoid London and U.N.K.L.E, bringing his distinctive cosmic sound to clubs, festivals and late-night danceoors across the UK and Ibiza.

Bio:

Gary Dodds aka Doddz is a Belfast-based DJ and producer with over 20 years behind the decks, known for deep musical journeys that move through Balearic, downtempo, house and techno. A long-standing resident with Plan B Belfast and Freebooter Lounge Sunday Circles, Gary has built a reputation for eclectic selections, warm grooves and hypnotic late-night energy.

Alongside his multi-genre sets, Gary also co-runs Oscillate, a Belfast-based techno night focused on deeper and harder underground sounds, reflecting another side of his musical identity.

His sets are shaped by years immersed in underground culture, drawing influence from artists such as Four Tet, Bonobo, Darren Emerson, Sasha, Phil Kieran and Global Communication while always maintaining his own distinct sound.

Gary has played across Ireland, Amsterdam and Ibiza including sets at the legendary Golden Lion, Kashmir Lounge in Amsterdam, Aluna Funky Rooms and Word of Mouth Café in Ibiza, alongside recent performances at the PUMPHOUSE Festival at Titanic Distillers.

His productions on the The Freebooter Lounge label have gained international plays and Beatport charts with additional support from Mark Broadbent on Ibiza Sonica Radio. His Who Killed Techno release on the mighty Sonar Bliss reached the Top 10 on the Beatport techno chart in December 25.

Whether playing deep sunset grooves, broken beats or driving techno, Gary’s focus has always remained the same... honest underground music for open-minded listeners and dancefloors. This exclusive two-hour session for Music for Walking captures that spirit perfectly.
