For many of us, our self worth can be strongly linked to our productivity. Whether it’s our natural tendency or years of conditioning, it’s time to untangle our worth from our output. Piling a ton of items onto our To Do list can lead to complexity, overwhelm and inefficiency. In this episode I discuss the value of focusing on one or only a few things at a time and how I’m applying this in my own life.

This episode’s podcast guest is extremely special. She’s one of my best longtime friends, Kirsten Owens. During several months in 2017 and 2018, Kirsten walked Te Araroa, also known as The Long Pathway of New Zealand, carrying a modest pack of belongings with her. Te Araroa is one of the world’s longest walking trails. We discuss Kirsten’s journey which took several months, as well as minimalism, consumerism and the importance of our relationships and experiences over stuff.

I have a confession to make...I’m not very minimalist with my screen time. And I don’t mean the productive, business growing, connection building screen time. I mean unproductive, unintentional, mindless, zombie-ing out screen time! But I’m well aware of it and here’s what I’m doing to fix that.

In this episode I’m explaining why lifestyle creep may be keeping you from a life of financial freedom. Lifestyle creep is a trap that many of us fall into, myself included in the past. Becoming aware of it is the first step in your journey to living more lightly and with less stress.

It can be incredibly easy to beat yourself up about having spent money on your business or passion, and feeling like you have wasted it. What happens when that course, coach or equipment doesn’t continue to inspire you after purchase or sits there unused? I’ve been there, and in this episode I talk about how I manage my feelings about having spent money in my business that doesn’t contribute to my progress or income the way I hoped or intended it to.

Today I’m discussing family minimalism and simple living with Joshua Becker.
Joshua Becker is the Wall Street Journal and USA Today best-selling author of The Minimalist Home, The More of Less, Clutterfree with Kids and Simplify. He is the Founder and Editor of Becoming Minimalist, a website dedicated to intentional living visited by over 2 million readers every month.
Joshua and his young family were introduced to minimalism more than 10 years ago during a short conversation with their neighbour. Since then, Joshua’s story and writing have inspired millions around the world to find more life by owning fewer possessions.
Today, based on his thoughtful and intentional approach to minimalism, he is one of the leading voices in the modern simplicity movement. Currently, he lives in Arizona in the United States with his wife and two teenage kids.
