God promises joy ... BUT ... He is displeased with His people. These are not mutually exclusive. His displeasure results when we willingly disobey because God knows we have been created to function in a specific way ... HIS way and chaos and pain and suffering ALWAYS results when we walk away from Him!

What would the signs of the coming Messiah? Could Isaiah be trusted? How would He show Himself to be faithful with the Assyrian army ready to attack Jerusalem? Would there be ANY future? God would use local "current events" to show Himself faithful so that people would understand and trust prophecies that were centuries away from being fulfilled!.

Conditions that are heart wrenching in times to come will be replaced by God's gracious intervention! But in the mean time, He likens His people to a garden that He creates and tends ... but will that garden bear fruit?
