and I was disappointed in it
It was cute, but very short and very few details. I bought it for a neice and nephew's first visit here ti Minnesota, and I was disappointed in it.
This is a fun, dynamic book of the âtop ten sites to see or things to doâ in Minnesota kids will love ...
Minnesota is an awesome state to visit, but when most people think about it they envision themselves fishing in those 10,000 lakes. True, but there are so many other things to do in Minnesota. There are all kinds of great guidebooks, but just what are the âtop ten sites to see or do in the North Star State?â Yes, you can fish, but did you ever think that people head to Minnesota to go shopping at a gigundous mall? They sure do, but there are other things people flock to see in Minnesota.
MINNESOTAâS TOP TEN:
â Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness: If you really want to get away from it all, you can head to Minnesotaâs wilderness areas. Yes, you can fish, but canoe, backpack andâfall asleep listening to the call of the loons.â
â In the Heart of the Beast Puppet and Mask Theater: If you love puppets, thereâs nothing like seeing hundreds of them all in one place! In the spring thereâs a MayDay Parade, but best of all you can âuse water, flour, a newspaper, and paint your own mask or puppet.â
â Worldâs Largest Twine Ball: If you like wild ân weird, thereâs nothing like heading to Darwin to âstare at the Worldâs Largest Twine Ball.â Francis Johnson just had a notion in 1950 about making a twine ball and the rest is history ... BIG history!
â Mall of America: Now this is one place that is most certainly a shopperâs dream. Bloomingtonâs Mall of America (MOA) has a whopping â520 stores and about fifty restaurants.â If you canât find what you need there, you probably donât need it. After shopping you could head on over to the Nickelodeon Universe theme park or the Sea Life Minnesota Aquarium.
â Minnesota State Fair: The more you read in this book, the more fun Minnesota seems. The fair is a busy one with âmore than 1.5 million peopleâ checking it out. Oh, and while they are there, the scarf down â10 million chocolate chip cookies.â After you eat cookies you can check out the animals, including the âstateâs largest pig.â
â Brainerd Ice Fishing Extravaganza: Back to the fishing, but this time its in the wintertime. There are âmore than twelve thousand anglers [who] stream into Gulf Lake to join in on the fun. The prizes are huge. Wouldnât you love to win a truck? How about an ATV?
â Jeffers Petroglyphs Historic Site: Comfrey is the place to head if you want to see where American Indians âcarved pictures of weapons, animals, and moreâ on prairie rocks.â If you havenât guessed, those carvings are petroglyphs.
