Reality tv behind-the-scenes

Love this series dancing, drama and a whole lot of romance Jones does it well to write a story of things going on backstage and a blooming romance that is hotter than the shows dancers

an easy read - great start to a new mini-trilogy

In a sea of re-used romance novel themes, it was so refreshing to read a novel that is as current as it gets. Reality TV, especially a dance show - and then throw in the possibility of a curse? Perfect set up for a romance novel in these times. I could do without backstabbing and vindictive people, but I get that it adds to the drama that is reality TV, and subsequently this book as well. I loved the matching damaged set of Meagan and Sam, and how their pasts and current situation builds up the tension and threatens their relationship. More light and campy than truly a romantic suspense, but a great quick read. Looking forward to seeing what comes out of this set next!

A reality dance show novella

Meagan Tippan is the producer of a dance reality show which seems to operating under a few handicaps, including a hostile assistant named Kiki Reynolds, a romantic tug of war going on between several of the contestants and a series of accidents that are causing rumors of a curse to circulate. The last thing she needs is to have her life complicated by a searing attraction for her hunky head of security, Sam Kellar. Sam is a Special Forces soldier who had to give up his dream of lifelong enlistment due to a serious leg injury. Meagan knows all about having a dream shattered and is determined to overcome all obstacles to produce a successful show which will validate her decisions. Sam is determined to help her achieve her goal and become part of her life, whether the feisty woman is prepared to accept him or not.

An entertaining novella that provides a look at all of the hard work involved in producing a reality show complete with backstabbing and ego-juggling. The attraction between two strong people who have had to overcome life-changing injuries vacillates between a sensual connection and the camaraderie resulting from an instinctive knowledge of what is important to the other person (and an unerring ability to push each other's buttons). The tension that gradually ratchets up as the show progresses is a nice counterpoint to the changing relationship between Sam and Meagan. An enjoyable quick read.

Passion,reality dance show & curse

Watch Me has a lot love scenes. I skimmed over them. I really like the plot of the story and the characters.

The main plot is the making a reality show of dancers and after the dancers are down to certain amount all live together and live dancing competion with someone being voted off the show.

Wonderful writing & narration-four and a half star

I seldom hand out 5 stars...I think they are awarded so often they become meaningless. However this book comes close in my opinion. For a fairly brief novel, the book develops beautifully and with amazing thoughtfulness and heart.

If you enjoy cooking, you'll enjoy Steven Raichlen's lead characters. Both are innovative chefs and creative cooking becomes part of their courtship. The book isn't centered around food and cooking but it plays an important part in their growing relationship. I've never been to Martha's Vineyard but felt like I got to know the area from the writing and details in the novel which is set on Chappaquiddick Island. Claire and "the Hermit" are a mismatched couple whose relationship slowly grows, as Claire battles breast cancer and "the Hermit" hides from his past.

The plot is finely tuned with excellent dialogue and development of the characters. As I got to know them, and the story of their lives, I became more fascinated with their past-especially that of "the Hermit".

I really enjoyed this book. It is the first book I have read by this author and I really enjoyed it. It was funny and kept my attention the entire story. I hope the author follows up on more books about the brothers, I would for sure read those.

Truly nobody's child

I won't spoil this for anyone else by going into the storyline - suffice to say this book is well worth the effort. The narration is full of emotion and at times extremely heart wrenching.

Verdict: wow!

Erotic Amusements is the latest release from Justine Elyot. Set in a seaside town in Britain, you may think that it's going to be a jolly, happy, sexy romp beside the seaside. Think again.

It's sexy, of course, but the book goes so much deeper than that. There's a strong plot underlying the sex and the novel is actually a mixture of erotica, romance and crime thriller. Don't get me wrong, there's no gore or forensic examination involved, but there's a dark undertone in Erotic Amusements that makes it an edge-of-your-seat kind of a book.

This seductive book tells the story of the seaside resort, Goldsands. Charles Cordwainer is the mogul of the area, if you like, owning several businesses, and people. He's not a nice guy and he pulls the strings of those that work for him so tightly that they're terrified of him and daren't put a foot wrong. That includes his right-hand man, Rocky, who does his dirty work and his submissive, Michelle who runs one of his businesses, but also services him and his associates.

One of Charles' newest employees, Flipp, has no such qualms. She's so new to the area that she has no idea about the secrets and lies going on around her. However, when Rocky meets her he takes a shine to her and tries to warn her to be careful. He himself has to be careful because Cordwainer has a hold over him, but he doesn't want to see Flipp falling into the same trap. The two become close, and despite the risks start seeing one another. However, in a place like Goldsands, nothing stays secret for long.

But whoever is trying to unearth secrets isn't going to stop at Rocky and Flipp. They intend to dig up everything they can find on Charles Cordwainer and his employees and bring his Goldsands empire tumbling down around his ears. But digging around in the seedy underbelly of Goldsands uncovers more than anyone could have imagined, and many people will be affected by the fallout.

Verdict: wow! I've read lots of Justine Elyot's writing and have always enjoyed it, and Erotic Amusements is no exception. I enjoyed the whole seedy criminal element, as well as the smoking hot sex scenes and intriguing characters we've come to expect from Ms. Elyot. It feels a bit different to her usual novels, but I still really enjoyed it. Recommended.

What disappointed you about Turn It Up?

I didn't like Charlie. The radio show was ridiculous and I cannot count how many times I rolled my eyes during this book.

Save your money - even $1.95 was too much to pay!

This was so bad it was almost funny. First - the narrators voice is mono-tone. Boring and drove me crazy. The storyline - if you could call it that - was basically an amateurish detective story strung between prolonged, multiple sex scenes so far beyond the scope of reality it was ridiculous. What was supposed to be sexy and erotic was almost comical in it's overdone orgy style. Not to mention if a professional FBI agent is doing in his office what this dude is - he should be fired. These two can't seem to go more than 5 minutes without sex. After awhile it just becomes a yawn...save your money/credits on this one. So much for trying out a new author - whew I'll take a pass.

Hard to follow

Jumps and skips all over for the first half which makes it hard to follow. I had to go back several times to try to figure out how they got to where they were but it didn't help. It is almost like they skipped every other page in the reading. Beside that it was just plain boring. All sex, no relationship building.
