And only her sexy new protector - a man she hardly knew but already wanted - stood between her and a bullet.

I really liked this story---this was an exciting and adventurous book!! Loved men like Aaron and Royal--they are what dreams are made off--thank you for this book HelenKay!!!
Really wanted to like this, but didn't
First off, series romance is not usually my thing because I tend to find the shorter lengths work to the detriment of character development, but this one sounded fun and the price was right on my Kindle. Alas, much as I wanted it to work out, the book did not meet my expectations.
The plotting through the first half was fast-paced enough to keep my interest even as sparks failed to fly between the main characters. Unfortunately, at the halfway mark, the action ceased and the bad chemistry between Aaron and Risa was dragged front and center. I didn't feel like they had sex because there was any desire between the two, but rather they're in a book that demands it as part of the structure. Awkward. That said, the book was a quick, pleasant read that doesn't quite live up to its potential.
Switched
Aaron McBain owns his own security company. What he thought would be a typical security protection job at a corporate Christmas party turned into an all-night adventure when men with guns and bombs enter the picture.
Risa Peters is in the wrong place at the wrong time. She goes to the not-yet-opened facility to check it out for her company's holiday party. Who knew needing to use the restroom would bring her face to face with a man (Aaron) who she went on a couple of dinner dates with. Also finding out Aaron isn't the tax attorney he claimed to be and carried more guns and had more moves than any she'd seen outside the movies also took her by surprise.
Aaron has to put puzzle pieces together as to why these armed men storming the party are trying to kidnap Risa. Risa (in the beginning) wants to know why Aaron never called her after their last date. However, after numerous attempts to kidnap her occur, she puts that question on the back burner and works with Aaron and his assistant Royal on trying to get out alive. Not an easy feat when they encounter danger at every turn.
Unbeknownst to Aaron, the CEO of the company he is protecting has a jealous mistress. A mistress who arranged for her own kidnapping to make her lover jealous. Risa is mistaken for her, though Aaron, Risa and Royal have no idea.
While trying to escape to safety, Risa lets Aaron know she wants to know why he didn't call, and somehow that discussion is tabled. He wants her safe. Royal finds amusement in their bantering.
Things take a turn when the new construction is rocked with an explosion.
