    Publisher's Summary:
Hard-living musician Flynn "Flint" Clinton has left heartache and his wild ways behind in Nashville, returning to his sleepy hometown of Northfork, North Carolina. There he hopes to start a new life as owner of the Stardust Caf, relaxing and raising his two preteen sons in peace and quiet. Then Flint meets the colorful, indomitable Joella Sanderson, a blond bombshell who serves a mean cup of caffeine at the Stardust - and whose amazing voice belongs at the top of the charts. Jo's catchy comedic ditties and radiant energy captivate the coffee shop regulars and even threaten to transform the cynical Flint, who finds himself reluctantly rediscovering the joy of music. With Jo by his side, Flint can once again appreciate a beautiful melody and strum his guitar with the same passion and pleasure that once filled his life. But in Flint's world, trouble is never far away. This time it arrives just as he dares to open his heart to the possibility of true love.
    Editorial Reviews:
Life-weary Clint rejects country music stardom in Nashville and returns to his humble roots with his young sons. Clints simple life grows complicated as he contends with problems in his small town while trying to manage his feelings for Jo, a charming local woman with a golden voice. Jos life is busy, she has no patience for men, but she is likewise drawn to Flint. Can Flint help Jo find her dream of stardom? Will the two allow romance to lower their defenses? Using a measured and self-assured tone, narrator Stephen Bel Davies embodies Flints jaded and gruff persona. Although he performs in third person Davies sounds like Flint, so listeners actually feel as if they are listening directly to this straightforward main character.

    Great book!
I really enjoyed "Small Town Girl" by Patricia Rice. This was the first book I've read by this author, having recieved a complimentary copy of the book in exchange for an honest review. It took me a little longer than usual to find myself invested in this story, but overall - I really enjoyed it and liked what the author did with the story line and characters. This felt like the beginning of a series, although I don't see any follow up books...yet. I would defineately continue on if it does become a series. If you are in the mood for a good contemporary romance with a singer/song writer sub plot, then this is a must add to your collection.
    Happy Reading...enjoy!
    fine contemporary romance
His divorce did not shake musician Flynn "Flint" Clinton, but the subsequent death of his ex Melinda and his drunken accident have left their two pre-adolescent boys, John and Adam, shocked and grieving. Still he returns to the hometown to start anew life as owner of the Stardust Café that he recently purchased. He also needs to know who his former partner and ex best friend RJ stole the lyrics of a hit from.

    Dialogue and action are summarized
    instead of showing details.
Ive enjoyed other books by this author, but this was not good. Its all internal pondering and telling - not showing. Examples: 1. She says there had been rumors that... We dont hear the conversations of who said what in the rumors. 2. The author skipped a conversation and wrote Jack said all the right things. 3. The couple is together doing something or going somewhere, but instead of talking, Jack is thinking in his head thoughts like: He knew if this happened in the future, she would do this. If that happened she would do that.
I was so bored. I read more than half and then did the last two chapters. The ending is happy for the couple. I didnt care. I just wanted to be done.
There might be sex in this book, but there was none in the parts I read. This is a Harlequin Super Romance book.
    AUDIOBOOK NARRATOR India Plum.
I did not like the narrator. She read as if she were not interested in what she was reading, like she was bored, as if she never smiled. I did not like her interpretations making some lines bratty, abrupt, or dismissive. I would not have read them like that. She used different voices and emphasized different words, but the overall feel was monotone. She has a heavy Australian accent.
    OTHER BOOKS:
I enjoyed the following books by this author: Hot Island Nights and The Other Side of Us.
    Narrative mode: 3rd person.
    Genre: contemporary romance.

Sweet Story of Summer in the South
Just when I thought the Copper Lake series couldn't get any better, this new book arrives on the scene. I have been reading this series since it's inception and have grown to love the community and the people of Copper Lake. Several of my favorite characters make cameos in Copper Lake Encounter and it was so much fun to see where they are now. However, the book stands alone very well. This current story is about Ty and Nev and their very "love at first sight" relationship. Neither of them is a perfect person which allows the reader to feel their reality almost in the first person (although Ty may come pretty close to perfect). Their common heritage and the sweet nuances of summer in the south make this book a treasure. Macaroni and cheese and cornbread as comfort food? A little, sweet bickering about who makes the best recipe? Simmering Sunday afternoons with a handheld cardboard fan advertising the local funeral home? If you have ever lived in the south, this book will bring back fond memories and maybe a few tears. If you haven't ever lived in the south, what is your problem? Get there as quick as you can in this story. There is a hint of "second sight" and spirit-induced memories both of which add to the layers of the story. A murder and a disappearance are solved with this book and love comes home to Copper Lake. By the way, I have my grandma's cornbread recipe and it IS the best-you just have to add a little sugah. Please experience this story-you won't be sorry. Also, give Marilyn's Southern Knights and Heartbreak Canyon(my personal favorite) series a try. Pappano's gift for imbedding you in a story will make you a decades long fan just like me.
    Excellent Book!
All I can say is, "Thank you, Marilyn!!!"
This is one the very best books I've read this year! I've enjoyed each of the Copper Lake books, but this one tops them all.
The characters are so true to life and heart warming, I feel as if I could pick up the phone, call them and have a nice, long chat. The suspense is over-the-top excellent! I can usually figure out who the bad guy is when I read a suspense, but not this time.
Ms. Pappano does an excellent job of making me care about the people in her book. It's one that'll stay on my keeper shelf for years to come so I can read it again and again.
    Marilyn Pappano never disappoints
The latest in the Copper Lake series is a real page turner! When Nev travels to the town she's been dreaming about continually, she unfolds secrets certain people thought were hidden forever.

    Excellent read. Really good series
    Excellent read. Really good series.
    Complex romance and thriller
A maze of complexities in both the romance and the killer in this latest installment of the Mindhunters series.
When the third victim is found of a killer that injects poison into his victims and no connection between any of the victims can be found Mindhunter profiler Holt Patterson is assigned the case. Holt is a very complex guy himself. His wife died of cancer a year ago and left him as a single father to their son but Holt's devotion to his job has him being an absentee father most of the time. Between the death of his mother and his father not being around much nine year old Theo has been acting out in school.
Sara Burns is the director at the The Hills Boys' Academy school where Theo attends. She was also once best friends with Elizabeth who was Theo's mother. She has a soft spot for Theo and is always looking out for him even though its uncomfortable for her to be around his father. She also doesnt realize that she has come under the radar of the killer but not for the reasons you think.
The complexities of this story come in between Holt and Sara and with the killer known as Toxin.
Sara and Holt have a history together from college. She really liked him back then but was to shy to ever act on it and then her best friend decided she wanted Holt for herself and they ended up pregnant and married which ended all three's friendships. The feelings that left Sara and Holt with about each other was strained to say the least.
Now to Toxin. The author created a killer that in his mind was a superhero and all killings were justified. As the story progressed and you find out what made Toxin the way he was and in some ways you felt sorry for him but yet knew he'd gone clean off the deep end.
This is an ongoing series that I think should be read in order as there are some arcs that were started in the first book that are still ongoing. I continue to be a fan of this series and cant wait for the next book.
    Great psychological mystery/thriller
As always this author hit it out of the park with this latest series entry that can be read as stand alone. This book has it all, creepy psychological thrills and chills, mystery, romance, passion and spine tingling, hold your breath adventure.

    Publisher's Summary:
In this emotional debut, a New York executive, restless in his success, is sent to West Virginia, where a small-town girl and her son open his eyes to a richer life than he could have imagined.
On the surface, Charlie Burden and Natty Oakes could not be more different: she, the daughter of many generations of rural farmers; he, an executive at a multinational engineering firm. But in each other they find the new lease on life they both so desperately need.
Natty dreams of a life beyond her small town. She is unhappily married to her high school crush - who now spends more time at the bar than at home - and passes the time nursing retired miners, coaching her sons soccer team, and running the mountain trails she knows by heart, longing to get away from it all. Charlie has everything he ever thought he wanted, but after 25 years of climbing the corporate ladder, he no longer recognizes his own life: His job has become bureaucratic paper-pushing, his wife is obsessed with their country-club status, and his children have grown up and moved on. When he is sent to West Virginia to oversee a mining project, it is a chance to escape his stuffy life and to get involved, instead of watching from the sidelines. Arriving in Red Bone, though, he gets more than he bargained for: His new friends become the family he was missing, and Natty reminds him what happiness feels like. When his companys plans threaten to destroy Nattys family land, his loyalties are questioned, and he is forced to choose between his old life and his new love in a fight for Redemption Mountain.

Oooh the ending spoiled it for me
I thoroughly enjoyed most of this novel. As always, Mark Bramhall's narrating was outstanding, and the story itself was entertaining and interesting. But I didn't like the ending ... at all! It ruined the "Overall" experience for me.
    Will they, won't they?
Charlie is devastated when his wife has an affair, so he takes a job offer in West Virginia. He meets Natty and you just know they're going to fall for each other, but so much lies in the way - an abusive husband, law suits, town poverty and resentment.
At times you will be gripping your fists cheering them on as their connection is so strong, but you know the finale is going to bring about some heartache.

    Great story bad narrator
I love Christine d'Arbo's books, they are always steaming hot & have a great story to go with the scorching sex scenes. Sexcapades was another fabulous story but unfortunately the narrator really killed it for me. I've listened to over 300 books now & I've never come across another narrator who managed to sound bored while she was reading the sex scenes. Most narrators manage to get you so into the book its like you are there living the story with the characters, this one sounded like she was reading from cue cards & badly at that. No change in voice for male or female characters so it was sometimes difficult to tell which character was speaking. PLEASE audible record it again with a different narrator you have done Christine d'Arbo a disservice.
    It was meh
This book was ok... the narrator was ok ... its a one time listen if you are addict like me listen to it, add to your collection and move on.
