    meh
    Where to start....?
I was so looking forward to this book. I couldn't wait to read it. Zombies, a revolution?! Everytime I watch or read something about zombies, I wonder about famous people like this. George Washington!! Well, I was let down. Washington and Patton are brought back to life to command a zombie army of super elite killing zombies. But not the type that chew on people. They are just the Living Dead.
There's not a whole lot of explaining why this stuff is happening. It just didn't feel right. The whole time I kept waiting for the major zombie attack and was disappointed when it came with guns and weapons instead of teeth and eaten brains.
Sure we all complain about our govt. It was sort of interesting to see an icon like Washington come back and want to fight for the people again. I get it. It would be awesome. I just feel the book was not up to par with what I expected from it.
I thought the military jargon destracted from the story.
While I didnât love Revolution Z, I did find the story idea interesting. I meanâ. basing a story on a zombie/resurrected George Washington? And then throwing in George Patton? Crazy. I think, for me, the book was too focused on the military and weaponry aspects of the story. There was a lot of referencing to different specific weapons especiallyâ and I found myself a little lost. It would go into paragraphs of military jargon and I found myself skimming.
Skimming wasnât constant though. Having been obsessed with The Walking Dead (like the authors are) I was excited about the whole âZombie Armyâ. Zombie stories mean action and excitement to me. Then realizing that the zombies in this story were capable of (somewhat) being trained was an interesting spin. On top of that, some of the âzombiesâ were actually not at all the usual mindless animals which gave it another unique twist. My favorite parts of the books were the scenes involving George Washington and George Patton having conversations and observing the soldier trainings.
I have to say, my biggest disappointment about the book was that I felt there was a better story to be told. There was a little focus on one other zombie character named Michael Stone. Michael was a zombie soldierâ but was also sentient. He was throughout the book, first as a soldier (before being killed) and then resurrected as a part of Washingtonâs army. Just with the brief descriptions of Michael, I found myself wanting to know more about him. What was he thinking? You knew he was unlike the other zombie soldiers, so what was going on in his mind? Why was he less like the other soldiers and more like the Georges? I think if a lot of the military babble was left out, more focus could have been put on character development. I finished the novelâ but Iâm just left wondering about Michael.
    Book Review: Revolution Z
Who better to lead a modern army than George Washington? Right? The thing is, in this day and age, that would take a bit of resurrecting. And in this book, that is exactly what happens. And the army is no normal army. It's an army of zombies.

    Different Look at Life
    LibraryThing Book Review
After The Collapse, Texas is now governed by local governors. Guy Gisborn ousted Robin his wife seizing control and holding Robin's daughter Rosa hostage. He wants to dispose of Rosa keeping her away from Cecily at all costs. Robin wants to rescue her daughter from her ex husband clutches but cannot make a move against that would hurt Rosa. Guy's paranoia increases as his control slips away from him steadily. Can Rosa and Cecily get out of Gisborn's sight? Will Rosa contact Robin? Your answers await you in Ardent Forest.
Interesting take on divided country. This book had dystopian feel to it. I didn't like Guy or his actions. The characters were honest, real, and likeable. The story was quick read. I'd be interested in this author's work in the future.

    Definitely makes a person think.
Would you try another book from Jane B. Night and/or Ashley Huyge?
Yes. In fact I will be listening to Educating Autumn next.
If youve listened to books by Jane B. Night before, how does this one compare?
    n/a
What do you think the narrator could have done better?
Her tone and inflection were rather flat. She didn't do a poor narration but other than for the child, she has no ability at voice distinction.
    Any additional comments?
Not knowing what to expect as I didn't read the publisher's introduction, for a while I wasn't sure I really liked what I was hearing but in the end the characters and 'too close for comfort' ideas finally won me. With turmoil ever present nearly everywhere, this scenario is not all that far-fetched. While I've never been impressed with graphic language or sexual content, I must say people do act/react/interact this way throughout the world. This story may be a morbid alternate reality but it's one worth hearing.
I received this story as a free gift from the author and Audible.com. I appreciate the opportunity to read and review. Thank you.

    Boring
Good points: Well-written, good sentence structure, good grammar. However, it's honestly just plain boring. Nothing to speak of happens in the first twenty pages, and while I know that's not a lot to give a book to catch my attention, I haven't got a ton of time to read, so if a book can't catch my attention quickly, I'm not going to keep reading just to see if it gets better.

I don't want to be fair but...
I don't want to give this book a fair review (although I am) because I hated the way it ended.
I am so glad I didn't pay for these "books" because they aren't really books at all. Instead, they are like chapters from a book. None of them can be read as a stand alone novel and I just want to give this a one star rating because of it.
Having said that, I need to be fair. This was a darn good read. I was excited to find out what happened next and didn't want to set the book aside until it was finished.
For those who have a problem with curse words, there are some in here but I know if something was coming to eat me, I'd be using bad language too! Just saying.
I'd love to read the rest of this story to find out what happens but I probably won't. I don't know how many more parts there are to it and I'm not going to pay money for chapters. I want complete books or no books at all.
There are some typos and missing words but they aren't numerous. I just corrected them in my head and moved on.

    Just Another Zombie Tale
I dislike leaving bad reviews, but this was one of the few stories I had to give up on midway, I found the characters to be unsympathetic and the action to be dull. To be honest I'm sick of zombie stories. This book suffers from the same thing most zombie stories do: Other than being set at different location they are all pretty much the same.
Readers who love zombies might want to give this book a shot but casual readers and readers who have zombie burn out like me should probably skip this one
Not bad!! Zombies in the Hebrides! 4 stars
A little different being set on a remote Scottish island but in general most of the protagonists were too stupid to live and of course, didn't. Enjoyable however with a fair bit of action and a lot of emotional tension driven by pre-existing bad relationships inevitable in a closed community. Not of the powerhouse Arisen series standard but worth a read as well if zombies are your thing. Shepherd definitely can write so its not a story that relies on the action alone.
    Refreshingly Realistic
Despite the distracting typo's and bad grammar this series is very realistic, well, as realistic as a zombie invasion could be I guess. It's a very quick read, but it's worth a look for the money.
    Enjoyable Read
This is a well paced Interesting and gripping story with entertaining side stories that compliment the overall story this was a very entertaining read.

Robert Sheckley's Ask a Foolish Question, narrated by Rebecca Thomas, gives us the Answerer, who can answer any question...as long as you ask the right question. But finding the right question to ask can be harder than you think.
    Members Reviews:
Good, but needed some editing (SPOILERS)
The Answerer is some sort of semi-conscious machine that answers questions. Various humans and aliens travel to ask it questions, but the problem is that you have to ask it exactly the right questions to get any answers.
The concept is good, but I think the execution was flawed. Having multiple alien races fail to get useful information, the same way that the humans failed, seems redundant, especially since the aliens weren't really drawn in well. And the one great big honkin' plot hole bothers me: why did no one ask, "what question should I ask you to get useful information?"
For a similar concept -- the omniscient question-answerer that turns out to be a poisoned gift -- see "The Sack" by William Morrison. I think Morrison does a much better job with the idea. It's anthologized in Heinlein's /Tomorrow the Stars/, and possibly other books.
I don't know the process by which these plain-wrapper editions are created, but this one was done carelessly. Initial letters are missing from several paragraphs.
    funny little
It's a decent, funny little read
How could they understand the true answers?
There was a machine, designed to answer questions, it was called the answerer. He could only answer valid questions. Universe? Life? Death? Purple? Eighteen? Partial truths , half truths , little bits of the great question. How could they understand the true answers ?
Some will like this story others will hate it still others won't understand it.

    A THINKING PERSON'S BOOK
Warren's book tells a story, packed with suspense, of what happens when a doctor concocts a method to reverse the human aging process. The regimen, requiring only a few days, could change a deathbed, eighty-year-old person to age twenty-five. The treatment would give this youngster an endless, disease-free life. The main character, Mark Langer an elderly retired former World Health Organization director, locates Dr. Susan Bastian who has fostered the scientific breakthrough. Susan gives him the treatment.
Mark suggests that Susan ascribe to his plan, a method that would include humans of all levels and a system regulated by a world wide government. The villains have different ideas, and two other methods of using the anti-aging scheme become a source of conflict. A wealthy industrialist wishes to preempt the doctor's secret and offer the treatment to those able to pay big bucks. Another faction from the criminal element plans to seize the doctor and take the full advantage of the regimen. Warren takes the reader through several creative and gripping twists as he weaves his thriller story into supprise ending.
This novel assumes that almost everyone would opt for new life through the anti-aging procedure. The premise being that, without controls, a serious population buildup would result. This reviewer began to question the assumption at mid point of the book when war over the aging cure broke out. What would I do if offered a chance to regain my youth and secure a boundless life? Is the fear of death at work here? These questions provoked some strong thoughts. I resolved that I would refuse the offered regimen. Death has no sting, considering what Christ tells us and what John says about the hereafter as recorded in Revelation 7:9-17.
I recommend you read this book; it will make you think.
