Members Reviews:
Comprehensive and Worthwhile
UPSIDE: This book of 276 pages delivers excellent content in correct format and with proper grammar. I am not an artist, but after just skimming this book I was able to duplicate closely a couple of the many animals presented here. The author starts with the basic wire frame and then fleshes each animal out to completion. There are also several links provided for additional resources and assistance.
Let me preface my DOWNSIDE: I recognize that this is NOT a general art instruction book. It delivers 100% on the title, how to draw animals, so I didn't deduct points. It presumes that you have basic art skills such as shading, etc.
The only down side is that techniques such as shading are not demonstrated. Maybe I am making it harder than it is, but I would like to see more detail on the actual strokes. The author mentions flatter strokes, how do I make the stroke "flat"?
I have yet to check out the linked resources, so some of the fine detail I feel is missing might be found there. If the techniques of shading (for instance) were detailed and demonstrated I would have give this book TEN stars. If you are already an artist and just need help with animal drawing this book is perfect. If not, it is a great start. In any case, I recommend it.

It's ok
I wish I hadn't bought this. It's ok and not a total waste but if I could have viewed more of it ahead of time, I would not have got this at all. Some of the ideas are ok and I'm sure the author is a nice person so hate to say anything to bad, it just wasn't very helpful for me.
