This month, Johan and Andrew link up to talk about fatherhood. From looking back on their relationships with their own fathers and how it shaped the ways that they grew their own families, to thinking about how becoming dads affected their business, this podcast holds a lot of personal reflections. Johan and Andrew talk about shifting priorities, leaving money on the table to be better dads, and what drives their competitive spirit at work.

Johan and Andrew traveled last week to Austin, TX to celebrate the opening of Self Edge’s newest location. While there, they took some time to sit down and chat about the city, their initial impressions of the store, and what Self Edge has meant to 3sixteen over the years. Andrew reflects on how partnering up at Self Edge over a decade ago helped informed 3sixteen’s approach to retail. Johan shares about our recent warehouse move and another major one scheduled for this summer: a brand new storefront in Los Angeles.

As our SS24 collection continues to roll out, Andrew sat down with 3sixteen's lead designer Wesley Scott to talk about the season and how it came together. Wesley's been with the company for almost a decade and we wanted to take time to share about his journey with the brand and how his approach has changed - but more importantly, how it's stayed the same. We touch on his time in grad school studying sustainability and how it means different things to different brands. And we close things out with the importance of bringing personal passion and taste into what we do at 3sixteen.

In this episode, Johan sits down with our good friend Josh Warner to chat about his journey towards creating Good Art. Josh shares about his upbringing and the joy of working with his hands from a young age, how loneliness breeds creativity, the benefits of ignorance and naïveté when it comes to starting your own company, and finding beauty in utility. Johan and Josh talk about our 20th anniversary collaboration and how it was a heavy project for Josh to take on because of his deep desire to honor the vision properly. We hope you enjoy the conversation.

Back in May of 2023, Johan & Andrew recorded an hourlong conversation that was supposed to be chopped up for short form video content; the intent was to share memories and anecdotes from our 20 year history in bite size pieces on social media. As we began to post these clips, we started getting inquiries on where the whole "podcast" could be accessed, which leads us here. We've taken the audio from that conversation and are presenting it to you here uncut. The conversation goes many places but the one all-encompassing theme throughout is a sense of gratitude. We try not take what we do for granted and we hope it shows. Thanks for listening and for journeying with us! See you in the new year.

They chat about what it was like to close up Wilson's after a wild month of service, design inspiration for seasonal collections, how to stay relevant with long-time and newer customers alike, and close out with some sneak previews on upcoming products and collaborations.
A big thank you to our buddy Ryan Impulse for the photo from our 20th anniversary party.
