Sister Bonnie Steinlage, a Franciscan Sister of the Poor, felt called to serve the homeless by becoming a hairdresser. After graduating from beauty school, she opened a tony salon in a shower house. In 1997, she founded Franciscan Haircuts from the Heart, which grew to serve thousands of adults and children.
