This episode is the season 2 finale! So, I decided to give you all an update to the story I shared in the last Dating Diary episode.

I also share some of the things that have been on my mind lately with regard to love and relationships and how I’m hoping to go into 2020.

On this week’s episode, I talk with Laci — a 26-year-old who’s been with her college sweetheart for the last 5.5 years. We talk about some of the challenges she faced earlier on in her relationship and the challenges that she’s facing now as she tries to figure out who she is and what she wants independent of her relationship.

We talk about having a go-getter mentality and how that can be hard to manage if you have a more risk-averse partner who may not be quite as career-driven.

This week I had a conversation with my friend who shared some of the lessons he thought he learned, but ended up repeated in later relationships. I think a lot of us are familiar with rushing into a relationship, being overcome with the rush of emotion that comes with falling for someone, and not necessarily learning our lesson the first time around, so I’m sure you’ll be able to relate to some, if not all, of Justin’s experience.

This week I have something a little different for y’all. I’ve turned the mic on myself and shared about a recent experience I had that allowed me to see the power I hold when it comes to dating and dealing with potential romantic partners and it provided me the opportunity to practice exercising that power.

In this episode, Alishia shares about her most recent situationship. Against her better judgment, Alishia got involved with a charming, ambitious 24-year-old -- 6 years her junior. She talks about the red flags that she saw, but chose to overlook, as the situationship developed.

Alishia also drops some gems with her ‘3 E’s to Boundary Setting’. It’s genius, y’all. 

We finish the episode with Alishia sharing an EPIC petty moment in the ‘Do Better Corner’.

On this episode, we hear from Ebony, a Baltimore native with two Masters degrees, who’s been in not one or two but SEVEN weddings and has been a maid of honor 3 times (I don’t even have that many friends, y’all…) She talks about her experience watching millennial relationships build and devolve, as well as her experience trying her luck (mostly unsuccessfully) on a range of dating apps.

On this episode, we hear from Christina, a married professional living and working in Baltimore. As a married woman who has been with her partner for over 6 years, Christina provides her perspective on dating from her past experience and from being an onlooker to the dating adventures of her girlfriends and siblings.

This is part 2 of the Millennial Dating Series. On this episode, we hear from Akil, a chemist and teacher out of Minneapolis. Akil shares some really thoughtful perspectives on dating and relationships for black millennials. And considering I’ve known Akil for almost 8 years and have seen his tomfoolery over that almost decade, his perspective really has come from a lot of maturing, learning from others, and self-reflection. I really think you’ll enjoy this interview.
