Sub skills of speaking are critical to language learning. The goal is to hold a steady, understandable and logical discussion or conversation. It needs proper pronunciation, tone, rhythm, intonation and more.

Students learn multiple language skills at a time. Focus is given in the classroom to train them one at a time. Think for moment the number of instructions the learner has to listen while learning the language.

Students are either shy, afraid or hesitant to speak as they may be made fun off ridiculed or judged. Pair and group activities are a great way to dispel this and increase confidence levels. It's worked for my students so it should be effective for other learners too.
