Slashers Podcast

Hello Mutant Goons! Welcome to a new episode of Slasher's Podcast. Today we go through the newly released Skinamarink. Join Mikey, Ade, and Austin as we go through the film, how we felt, the good, the bad, and the theories behind the most recent horror film to cause a stir. This film centers around two young siblings who wake up and feel something is not right in their home. Their parent's seem to be noticeable absent and their house is changing before their eyes. Told through a series of visual clips and minor dialogue the film takes us through every child's nightmare. Skinamarink will be streaming on shudder in February, or you can still catch it in theaters today!

Another Monday of New Year, New Zealand is upon us here on Slashers Podcast!  Today's episode is yet another film by Peter Jackson, Meet the Feebles from 1989.  This is another film from what Doug likes to call Peter Jackson's "Trilogy of Trash," or his second feature length film (the first being Bad Taste and the last being Dead Alive).  The film follows a cast entirely made of puppets who experience the sleazier side of show business while working on a variety show.  This is basically parodying The Muppet Show, except there is blood, guts, bodily fluids, flashbacks of Nam and an M60 massacre to tie it altogether.  As absurd and raunchy as this flick is, find out why it's one of Doug's favorites!  Let us know  your thoughts on this one (currently streaming on Tubi).

Happy Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, Goons!  Today's Monday and that means a brand new episode from your favorite horror podcast.  On this episode of our New Year, New Zealand theme, Mikey and Ade are joined by special guest, Austin, to talk about 1992's Dead Alive, written and directed by none other than Peter Jackson.  You may already know Peter Jackson from Bad Taste, Meet the Feebles, and a little movie about a hobbit getting lost called Lord of the Rings.  He's also responsible for the 2005 remake of King Kong.  The only reason I mention Kong is that there are clear references to Skull Island at the beginning of Dead Alive, so we can clearly see that Jackson is inspired by the classic Universal monster when creating this film.  Dead Alive, aka Brain Dead in New Zealand and other parts of the world, follows our hero Lionel as his overbearing mother and notorious cock blocker, Vera, is bitten and infected by a Sumatran Rat Monkey.  Hijinks ensue, and the horror community is blessed with one of THE most gory, goopy, gross, bloody, disgusting horror comedies ever to crawl out of the 90s.  If you have not seen this film, please watch before listening, as there are a ton of spoilers, and we need you to make an informed opinion on this classic (as one of your hosts is not too keen on it. It's okay to be wrong, I guess).

If you watch this episode on YouTube, you'll notice our backgrounds are Jason Voorhees related because we recorded this episode on Friday the 13th!  Hope you all  made the best of the holiday weekend!  Feel free to let us know your favorite and least favorite of the franchise, and check out our very own co host, Jason's,  comedic and poignant rating list on all the Friday 13th's posted in Instagram and Facebook!

Welcome back goons! We're taking you back to New Zealand for our New Year, New Zealand part 2. Join Mikey, Ade, and Austin (of Frightmares Podcast) as they dive into the newly released trailers for 2023, and a quick spoiler free chat about M3gan, and our main event ... 2014's Housebound. Funny enough this comedic suspense thriller is directed by the same director of M3gan!

Gerard Johnstone writes and directs this horror comedy about a young woman (Kylie) being forced to move back with her mom. While they work on the troubles of sharing a space again things start going bump in the night prompting an investigation into what may be haunting Kylie's childhood home.

That’s right, we are discussing the 1970 John Waters film Multiple Maniacs starring the one and only Divine. So join us as we discuss what the 70’s deemed as perverse, giant monster lobsters, and whether we agree (or not)  that this film belongs in the Criterion collection.

As a reminder, as a bonus, if you sign up for our Patreon during the month of December, we are allowing new members to request a movie for us to cover!  So if you want to hear something, show us some love!

This episode of our Deadly December here on Slashers Podcast features your favorite ghoulfriends, Mikey and Ade, who are joined by Austin to discuss any and all things Blumhouse.  This episode was supposed to cover The Conjuring, until Ade found out that no, that film is not a Blumhouse film, so we pivoted into Insidious instead.  We also go over our top 3 favorite Blumhouse films and trash the shitty ones.  Whether you love or hate this production company, we can at least respect the fact that it is keeping the horror genre alive, with films like Sinister, Black Phone, Happy Death Day, Paranormal Activity, Ma, Hush, and hundreds more, it'll definitely blow your mind that there are a ton of great ones among the stinkers.  So listen in and let us know your thoughts in the comments!

Happy Monday, Goons!  This month is Deadly December here on Slashers Podcast.  Today, Jake, Mikey and Ade discuss this year’s Barbarian, written and directed by comedian Zach Cregger.  The film stars Bill Skarsgard, Georgina Campbell, Justin Long and Richard Brake, and warning, there are PLENTY of spoilers.  We even compare it with Smile, starring Sosie Bacon (Kevin Bacon’s daughter) and the sexy Kyle Gallner. If you saw both, which one would you prefer?  Let us know in the comments!
