We continued our journey in the "Terrifier" series with "Terrified 2" from 2022. Art the Clown is back and it's gorier than ever. As tradition holds, in most slasher movies, the sequel has to ramp up the gore factor. This movie does not disappoint in that regard. Art is a master psycho clown killer and very good at torturing and ultimately killing his victims in very gruesome fashion. But we get more questions than answers in this one and we were left 'turned off' by some of the supernatural stuff in this movie. Maybe "Terrifier 3" will help tie up loose ends. Listen and enjoy!

We finally went to "Art Class" this week and watched "Terrifier" from 2016. Here at SlashU we try to educate you on the cheesy, campy, and sometimes forgotten slasher/horror movies. But I think it's safe to say this one is on everyone's radar these days. So it's not very forgotten, however it still fits the mold of cheesy/campy. But it breaks the mold when it comes to gore effects. And with Art the Clown providing the creepiest of killers as a backdrop, we had lots of fun breaking down this beauty of a movie. Give it a listen and tell us what you think.

Well Students, we heard this one was good. Upon review, we're not so sure everyone was truthful with us. We tackled "All Hallows Eve" from 2013. It's the movie that brought us the now infamous Art the Clown from the "Terrifier" series. So your professors thought we'd go see what all the hub-bub was about. We were not impressed. This anthology movie contains three separate stories within a larger story. It's a great framework for a slasher movie, there's no doubt about that. But we were just confused by the point of the three separate stories. No one said we're very smart though. Listen for yourself and let us know what you think!

You all knew we would have to talk about the sequel. A few episodes back we covered "Don't F*** in the Woods" and now we've come full circle to cover Part 2. It's the continuation (and conclusion maybe?) to one of the most literal horror movies we have covered here on SlashU. Our Final Girl Jane from the first movie stumbles out of the woods onto a group of counselors at a summer camp. She tries to warn them all about the monster she killed in the woods the night before. You remember the monster that's oddly attracted to anyone engaged in sexual intercourse, right? Well this movie brings a whole new threat and we're going to talk all about it. Let us know what you think!

This week we took a road trip with "Creep Van" from 2012. When a killer with absolutely no backstory starts randomly killing people with this booby-trapped van, our slacker hero Campbell gets mixed up in all the drama. But there are great kills and some cheesy one-liners.
Listen and enjoy!

We're still so proud of ourselves here at SlashU for completing 150 numbered episodes that we decided to just continue riding the Friday the 13th train by covering the 2009 "remake." Although the argument could be made that this is actually Friday the 13th Part 11, since it's a bit of a 'spiritual sequel' to the 1980 movie. A group of campers out to find a hidden crop of weed in the woods end up camping near the old abandoned Camp Crystal Lake. They unfortunately find out that Jason Voorhees is very much a real threat and that they should have just went to a dispensary.

We've made it to 150 episodes! Thank you so much to everyone who has been along for the ride that is SlashU for these last 4 years. We've come a long way from a dinky little poorly recorded podcast all the way to a much better sounding dinky little podcast. And this week we decided to tackle one of the best all-time OG Slashers that spawned so many things throughout this wonderful genre that we love. We're talking about 1980's "Friday the 13th." It's only fitting to cover a classic in celebration of our 150th 'canon' episode. When a group of camp counselors set out to fix up old, closed-down Camp Crystal Lake, they discover someone doesn't want the camp to reopen. Someone who will go to any extreme to keep the camp from opening, even murder.

This week we were at our first Horror Convention. It was Horror Fiesta in Peoria, Illinois. It was also the first horror convention for the town! So we were happy to be in on the ground floor as Peoria builds up and honors their horror/slasher community. We recorded a few segments right from the convention floor, just talking and reacting to the things we saw and even had some of the people speak up on the mic. This was a great time and we hope we picked up a few new followers/listeners. We are definitely going back if they do this again and we would definitely try to hit up other conventions (assuming they are affordable and easy to drive to). But check it out, let us know what you think, and get ready for episode 150 coming soon!

On this week's episode, we're bringing you another special interview. We sat down with Calvin Marie McCarthy, the writer/director of "Pillow Party Massacre." He talked to us about making that movie as well as tons of other projects. We discussed his time working on low-budget horror, working with a familiar cast and crew of people, and how he thinks this genre has evolved over time. Calvin's been involved in this industry in one way or another since a very young age and we thank him very much for taking the time to sit and talk with us here at SlashU.

This week we sat down with someone we consider to be low-budget horror royalty. It's Jeremy Sumrall. We know him best here at SlashU for playing The Beast in 2009's "Sweatshop" but he's done tons of other great things! So we got Jeremy on the line and decided to talk all about it for about an hour. He told great stories of how he started out, how he wound up in both "Sweatshop" and "Axe Murdering with Hackley." He talked about how sometimes the best thing you can do in making films is just 'show up' and be helpful and be grateful for every opportunity. Check it out and let us know what you think, and go show Jeremy some love.
