SleepTech Talk

This week, we meet Hugi Hilmisson with SleepImage.  Hugi has been working in the field of sleep research and the development of the SleepImage System for the past 8 years. He has collaborated with multiple teams of researchers assisting them in research using Cardiopulmonary Coupling and other analytics provided by the SleepImage System, publishing over 10 papers in various journals.

SleepImage has a long history in the sleep diagnostic medical device industry and was originally a spinoff from Embla Systems which developed traditional PSG and HST devices with notable products such as the Embletta MPR and the RemLogic software. The CPC module within RemLogic is what became the core of what is now known as the SleepImage System. The SleepImage System was first cleared in 2009 and was later cleared as Software as a Medical Device (SaMD) in 2017 and most recently in 2019 it was cleared as a system for diagnosing sleep disordered breathing in addition to the core sleep analysis and the FDA-cleared measure of sleep quality with the “Sleep Quality Index”.

Kevin is the Director of Business Development at Dr Lullaby.  Kevin has over 20 years of experience in the field of Sleep Medicine. He has worked in a variety of areas and has developed an expertise in offering alternative strategies to both providers and patients for traditional sleep treatments.He currently serves as Vice Chair for the AAST’s Educational Advisory Committee and is on theBoard of Directors for the Illinois Sleep Society. He is committed to giving back to the field and enjoys being part of the innovation process in the field of Sleep Medicine.

Andrea has spent over a decade learning every component of polysomnography, from clinical to administrative. She is double credentialed with her RPSGT and CCSH and holds a Master of Science in Industrial and Organizational Psychology.  She piloted and spearheaded an inpatient sleep screening program that was featured in the 2018 August/September issue of Sleep Review magazine and went on to consult with hospitals nationwide helping them start their own programs.

Andrea is the Clinical Director for EnsoData, helping to bring sleep into the future with Artificial Intelligence.  She also serves as President of the BRPT where her passion is advocating for new, evolving roles for sleep technologists.

Join the STT Crew as we talk to Kathryn Hansen. 

Kathryn is the Executive Director of the Kentucky Sleep Society, and owner of Integration Consultants, LLC, a Healthcare Consulting firm working with hospitals and medical practices to grow revenue and maintain compliance with Federal and State regulatory standards. Kathryn is Adjunct Faculty; Bluegrass Community and Technical College and Medtech College teaching Coding and Reimbursement (Outpatient and Inpatient), Computers in the Medical Office, Sleep Technology, and Anatomy and Physiology. Ms. Hansen holds a degree in Biological Sciences from the University of Kentucky, and studied in the department of Neurology at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota.  She did research with the Department of Pharmacology at the University of Colorado to define the relationship of increased cardiac arrhythmia as noted during REM sleep.
