Sounds of birds, frogs, wind, creatures crawling through the raspberries, an airplane and a dog ... with the audio tinge of alien landscapes ... familiar sounds made unfamiliar yet comforting somehow buzzy fuzzy and zoney ... Dec 5 2022
Recorded out my bathroom window ... Rain has been a regular feature this summer ... as we enter what feels like a more tropical weathery time in NE NSW ... will we enter a period of perhaps more cyclonic times ... oddly the leeches have not been around the last couple of weeks in the rain ... where do they go? ... do leeches migrate underground I wonder ... as they've been seen kms away at the other end of Webster's Ck this year ... secrets of the earthen world
Recorded just at my back door as the clouds danced across the sky ... cotton balls and shapes ... appearing throughout the day and disappearing and morphing again into what is now rain at 10pm ... Nimbin Hills ... on an east facing hillside with a dam and a creek below (platypus spotted a few day's ago! Whoop π exciting) ... the creek is fuller than it has been in recent years (I've been here about 7) in this spot cicadas and cricket's and frogs and the birds all speak of rain ... I brush cut half the day today ... perfect π good to get familiar with the land we nurture and call home
This is a podcast concept ... gathering ... gaining momentum in ideas and use of voice ... )) ... this was originally a little get well morning bedtime story ... it's here for all to enjoy as it describes the land you're listening to ... excuse the throat clearing ... if/when reread the material... may learn to edit and quieter the uhmms and page turns in the future ... or maybe it's a more natural touch ... kind of a practice/preview for episodes to expand on ... educational snippets episodes ... trying to read in a way that keeps a sleepy feel to it ...
Cicadas ... birds ... frogs ... thunder ... rain drops on tin roof ... perhaps a couple of wind gusts ... I haven't listened to this yet ... recorded on Spotify for podcasters app
Rain is really settling in tonight ... frogs are so loud and so many ... I'm just posting this as is ... recorded on this app ... hopefully the rain on the tin roof isn't too loud ... or the frogs ... ha I can't listen back as the rain is too loud and I'm heading back to sleep π΄
Satin Bower Birds (stoked I got some recorded) ... so many (15 or more) amidst a chorus of Australian birds, frogs, insects ... the odd plane and car ... after a day of gentle rain π§οΈ ... about 7mm ... the hills are alive!! ... the dusky end of the day

About Sleepy Nature Forecast
From the publisher's feed
Sleepy Nature Forecast is recorded on my iPhone (currently... because it just sounds so good out there ... outside my head ... outside my house ... out there) I will get a decent recording device soonβ¦
so apologies for any inconsistencies (though at times the raw sound is also somewhat appealing) ... not far from the World Heritage Border Ranges National Park in the Nimbin Hills on Bundjalung Country ... Respect ... I am recording as a relaxation tool and to document the different sounds throughout the seasons β¦ There are over 40 species of bird I've seen in this soundscape ... enjoy out there!
