Runaway Gin's Andy Greenberg and The Reckoning's Bobby Hogg have a new band that pays tribute to the jam band Big Three (Grateful Dead, Phish, Widespread Panic) called Bears Gone Phishin'. We discuss topics like the art of improvisation, the history of the jamband scene, what crowds want, gear, etc. It was a great discussion with plenty of music for you to listen to and enjoy. Thanks for sharing the podcast!
bears gone phishin' the reckoning maybankpublichouseWard and Russell of Sol Driven Train joined us to discuss their craft and crew with us. I learned a lot from this interview and had a great time, and I hope you will as well. What resonated most with me as I edited this conversation was how their lifelong friendship and sense of family and respect for each other permeate the band itself...and is a huge factor in its success, creativity, and overall longevity.
Check out their website, buy their merch, and go see a show sometime: https://www.soldriventrain.com/
Thanks as always to Maybank Public House for donating the space for our conversation...special thanks to Drew Madden.
This SMP Spotlight episode features the wit and wisdom of local songwriter Malin Wagnon. In particular, we discuss his songwriting process, his remarkable new album "Suffering," how to benefit from collaboration, and the benefits of creating within a limited framework.
Please buy his new album by visiting his Bandcamp site:

Grammy winning guitarist and producer Bob Lanzetti (Snarky Puppy, Bokanté, Brock,/Lanzetti/Ogawa Trio) joins us for an illuminating discussion about his experiences touring, recording, writing, and producing. Bob is a truly phenomenal world-class guitarist and I hope everyone enjoys this very special episode.
Episode includes selections from Snarky Puppy, Brock/Lanzetti/Ogawa Trio...as well as a beautiful song he's produced for Imola Vida-Veres. Thank you for listening.
Keep up-to-date on Bob's happenings HERE.
Once again...special thanks to Drew Madden for allowing us to record this session at Maybank Public House.
Conversation topics include making a living in the material world, what authenticity sounds like, a field guide for handling requests, the effects of current liquor liability laws...and I've also added more music to the show. There's a Hans Wenzel solo artist track, an old and wonderful 86ers track, and a great recording from The Destinators. Questions from Sexbruise are deftly answered as well. Tune in!
As discussed in the recording, PLEASE VISIT THE GOOD PEOPLE AT THE SC VENUE CRISIS: https://scvenuecrisis.org/.
Julie and Stratton discuss guerilla marketing strategies, pancakes, a superior rating system for hotels, songwriting...and much more. You will laugh. You will cry. You might get hit in the head with a pancake if you're not paying close attention.
Corey and Zach share their insights on various topics...from professionalism to "feel." Was an absolute pleasure to chat with these two gentlemen and look forward to doing it again soon.
I would recommend this brief article from City Paper about Zach/Sufferin' Moses when he won the CP Award for Best Blues Act Of The Year.
Check out Corey's band Josh Roberts And The Hinges if you'd like to know what's going on and where with that...which you should because it's great.
