On February 22, 2007, the Kamloops Art Gallery, in collaboration with the Small Cities Community-University Research Alliance, hosted a mayor's panel about the role of arts and culture in the development of cities in the Thompson-Nicole Regional District over the next fifty years.
The participating mayors, Ella Brown (Logan Lake), David Laird (Merritt), John Ranta (Cache Creek), and Terry Lake (Kamloops), joined members of the audience for a panel discussion facilitated by Kamloops Daily News editor and former Kamloops mayor, Mel Rothenburger.
The panel was organized in conjunction with the Kamloops Art Gallery exhibition "Cities of Canada: The Seagram Collection," which features portraits of Canadian cities from fifty years ago.
